Audio configurations
FUSION
The following configurations explain typical connections for the
subwoofer.
Please care to connect your FUSION subwoofer to a signal output after the system volume
control to always keep the subwoofers volume balanced in the same fixed relation to the stereo
loudspeakers that you adjusted by the subwoofer's controls.
Connection to an active stereo loudspeaker system with subwoofer output
Connect the input of your FUSION to the "SUBWOOFER" output of the active speaker system. In
case there is just a single mono output, simply connect to just one of the RCA inputs L or R of
FUSION.
Connection to a stereo amplifier or receiver with preamplifier output
Connect the input of your FUSION subwoofer to the "Pre-OUT" output of the preamplifier or
receiver.
Connection to audio devices without preamplifier output
To operate FUSION by a common stereo amplifier which offers no dedicated preamplifier output,
you should employ a high-level-adaptor as customary in the trade. The high-level-adaptor adapts
the too high signal of the amplifier's speaker outputs to the line level of your FUSION line input.
Further advise for the connection you should find in the instructions of the high-level-adaptors.
Adjustment controls
LEVEL: with the LEVEL control, the volume of your FUSION subwoofer can be adjusted in
relation to the volume of the stereo speakers.
FREQUENCY: the FUSION subwoofer can operate audio frequencies in the range from 30 Hz
(low cutoff) up to a high cutoff frequency that can be adjusted by the FREQUENCY control. With
the FREQUENCY control the acoustical transition from subwoofer to the stereo speakers can be
tweaked.
Generally, for large stereo speakers a lower high cutoff can be adjusted rather than for smaller
stereo speakers, where a higher high cutoff may achieve better results. The control range of the
high cutoff lowpass filter can be adjusted in the range from 40-180 Hz with 12 dB/octave slope.
PHASE: the phase adjustment shall achieve the same movement direction of the cones of the
subwoofer and the stereo speakers, to let the sonic radiation of the subwoofer add best to the
sonic radiation of the streo speakers. If there is adverse adjustment of the phase, the sonic waves
in the transition between subwoofer and stereo speakers could cancel each other. That might
sound like when the low bass does not belong to the same music as played by the stereo
sprekers.
Depending from the source output where FUSION is connected to, the initial setting of the phase
control can be 0° or 180°.
