Troubleshooting

Problem
Operation buttons do
not function.
The unit does not
operate.
The tape does not
move.
There is no sound.
Recording cannot be
made.
Sound is not recorded
on the tape.
Increase of noise or
deterioration of sound.
Cause
The HOLD/PUSH OPEN
switch is set to HOLD.
The batteries are exhausted
(
appears).
The AC power adaptor is
connected incorrectly.
The safety system is activated
due to moisture condensation
(the
indicator appears).
Other causes.
PAUSE P button is activated
(the P indicator appears).
The tape is wound completely
to the end.
The volume is turned down
completely.
Incorrect operation of the
connected equipment.
The head may be dirty.
The record-protect shutter on
the cassette is open.
Incorrect operation of the
connected equipment.
SCMS signal is detected.
Recording level control is set to
the minimum level when
recording via the analog input.
• The head may be dirty.
• Recording has done with the
head dirty.
Solution
Slide the switch to the center
position.
Replace all four batteries with
new ones.
Connect the AC power adaptor
correctly.
Leave the unit for a while and
restart the unit by turning on the
power.
Disconnect the power source
from the unit, then connect it
again.
Press PAUSE P or PLAY (
button to release pause mode.

• Press the =/0 button to
rewind the tape.
• Replace the cassette.
Press the + button of VOLUME
to adjust the volume.
Operate the connected
equipment as instructed in the
Operating Instructions manual.
Clean the head with the cleaning
cassette.
Close the shutter on the cassette.

Record via the analog
connection. (See page 15.)
Adjust the REC LEVEL control
correctly. (See page 17.)
• Clean the head with the
cleaning cassette.
