2 Safety Notes

This unit corresponds to all relevant directives of the
EU and is therefore marked with
WARNING The unit uses dangerous mains volt-
age. Leave servicing to skilled person-
nel only. Inexpert handling or modifica-
tion of the unit may result in electric
shock.
Please observe the following items in any case:

The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against dripping water and splash water, high air
humidity, and heat (admissible ambient tempera-
ture range 0 – 40 °C).
G
Do not place any vessel filled with liquid on the unit,
e. g. a drinking glass.
G
Do not operate the unit or immediately disconnect
the plug from the mains socket
1. if there is visible damage to the unit or to the
mains cable,
2. if a defect might have occurred after the unit was
dropped or suffered a similar accident,
3. if malfunctions occur.
In any case the unit must be repaired by skilled per-
sonnel.

A damaged mains cable must be replaced by the
manufacturer or authorized, skilled personnel only.
G
Never pull the mains cable when disconnecting the
mains plug from the socket, always seize the plug.
G
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use
chemicals or water.
G
No guarantee claims for the unit and no liability for
any resulting personal damage or material damage
will be accepted if the unit is used for other pur-
poses than originally intended, if it is not correctly
connect ed, operated, or not repaired in an expert
way.

3 Applications

The unit SR-103DMX is specially designed for appli-
cation in DMX-controlled lighting systems and serves
to split DMX control signals or to amplify signals in
case of long control cables. It is equipped with 3-pole
XLR connectors. The inputs and outputs are DC sep-
arated by optoelectronic couplers.

4 Setting into Operation

All connections should be made by skilled personnel
only. Fig. 3 shows an example for connection.
1) Feed the DMX control signal to the XLR input DMX
2) Connect in each case the jacks DMX OUT (4) to

Important for U. K. Customers!
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accor-
d ance with the following code:
blue = neutral
brown = live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the terminals in your plug, pro-
ceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured blue must be con-
nected to the terminal in the plug which is
marked with the letter N or coloured black.
2. The wire which is coloured brown must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter L or coloured red.
If the unit is to be put out of operation defini-
tively, take it to a local recycling plant for a
disposal which is not harmful to the environ-
ment.

For connection, it is recommended to use spe-
cial cables for high data flow. Use of standard
microphone cables is recommended only for a
maximum cable length of 100 m. The best trans-
mission quality is obtained with a screened micro-
phone cable of 2 × 0.25 mm
transmission cable. For cable lengths equal to or
greater than 150 m, it is recommended to insert
the SR-103DMX as a signal amplifier into the DMX
signal line.

The jacks DMX OUT are provided with a latching
device. To remove a plug, press the PUSH lever.

LED (2) lights up.
