Hint: In Mode 1, the selected
duration of the station stop refers
to the actual time the train is stop-
ped.
Mode 2: Basic Preparation
1. Place the two insulated track
sections at the stations (Fig. 2).
Make sure there is enough
stopping distance (see Opera-
tion).
Attention: Make sure that the
interrupted rails of the two track
sections are on the opposite rails
of the track. If you are replacing
an older Reversing Unit (80090,
0090), you may have to reverse
one of the insulated track sec-
tions.
2. Use the black/white cable to
connect the bumper stop with
electronics to the insulated
track sections, as shown in the
wiring diagram. Loosen the scr-
ews on the insulated track sec-
tions and trap the wires bet-
ween the screw and the rail.
Attention: Check again that the
interrupted rails of the two track
sections are on the opposite rails
of the track.
3. Bridge the interrupted rails on
both insulated track sections
with the included diodes. Attach
the diodes to the rails by trap-
ping them under the screws.
The white ring on the diodes
must face away from the nea-
rest bumper stop.
4. Use the blue/red cable to
connect terminals „BL" and
„RT" of the bumper stop to the
DC output of an LGB throttle or
power pack.
5. Plug the power supply cord into
a house current outlet.
Operation
Place a loco on the open track
between the stations. Adjust the
throttle to a medium setting. After
a short pause, the train will start
and proceed to one station.
There, it will stop. After a presel-
ected time, it will reverse its direc-
tion and proceed to the other sta-
tion. The train continues to opera-
te between the stations until the
power is switched off.
Attention: Make sure there is
enough stopping distance before
you increase the speed of the
train. Faster and/or longer trains
require
a
longer
stopping
distance.
Adjusting the duration of the
station stop
The duration of the station stop is
set with a switch and an adjust-
ment knob (variable resistor) insi-
de the bumper stop with electro-
nics (Fig. 1). Turn the bumper stop
upside down to access the switch
and knob.
Set the switch on the right (near
the edge of the circuit board) to
select the range of time adjust-
ment:
- 2 seconds - 1.5 minutes (factory
pre-set)
- 1 - 8 minutes
Turn the adjustment knob clock-
wise to lengthen the duration of
the stop, counter-clockwise to
shorten the duration.
Hint: The new settings will not
take effect until the power has
been turned off.
Hint: In this mode, the selected
duration is the duration of the tra-
vel plus the wait at the station.
Example: If your train takes
30 seconds to travel from station
to station, and you would like a
wait of 15 seconds at the station,
set the duration to 45 seconds
(switch on Symbol 3 (kleine Sand-
uhr), adjustment knob on middle
setting).
Power Supply
Attention! For safety and reliabi-
lity, this product must be operated
with LGB power supplies (trans-
formers, power packs and con-
trols) only. With other power sup-
plies, the overload protection may
not work. The use of non-LGB
power supplies may void your
warranty.
For more information on LGB
power supplies for indoor, outdoor
and multi-train operation, see the
LGB catalog.
Maximum current
The Automatic Reversing Unit
can operate with trains that draw
up to 3 amps. If you are double-
heading locos with sound or run-
ning long trains with lighted cars,
your trains may trigger the overlo-
ad protection (see Overload Pro-
tection).
Hint: Make sure your transformer
and throttle provide enough
power for the trains you intend to
run.
Minimum Voltage
To operate properly, the Rever-
sing Unit requires a track voltage
of 10 volts or more.
Overload Protection
This reversing unit is protected
against short circuits and overloa-
ding. If an overload current of
more than 3 amps occurs, the unit
will switch off for 10 seconds.
However, this overload protection
functions only when using a
power supply with an output of 3
amps or more. After 10 seconds,
the unit will switch on again.
When using a power supply with
an output of less than 3 amps, a
short circuit will trigger the overlo-
ad protection of your LGB power
pack (see Power Supply).
Attention! If there is a short cir-
cuit or overload, unplug the power
supply from the house current
outlet immediately:
1. Short circuit: Find and remove
the short circuit. Reconnect the
power supply cord.
2. Overload: Remove one or more
locos from the track. Reconnect
the power supply cord.
