4 Gerät aufstellen und anschließen
Der PA-24FR ist für die Montage in ein Rack
(482 mm/ 19") vorgesehen, kann aber auch als frei
stehendes Tischgerät verwendet werden. Für den
Einbau in ein Rack wird 1 HE benötigt (HE = Höhen-
einheit = 44,45 mm).
Vor dem Anschluss bzw. vor dem Verändern von
Anschlüssen den PA-24FR und die anzuschließen-
den Geräte ausschalten. Es können die XLR- oder
die Schraubanschlüsse verwendet werden. Die grü-
nen Schraubanschlüsse lassen sich zur besseren
Handhabung vom Gerät abziehen.
1) Ist in der Beschallungsanlage ein ELA-Mischver-
stärker vorhanden, den PA-24FR in den Misch-
verstärker einschleifen (Abb. 3):
Den Vorverstärkerausgang des Mischverstärkers
(mögliche Beschriftung PRE OUT) an einen der
Eingänge (10 oder 11) des PA-24FR anschlie-
ßen. Den zugehörigen Ausgang (8 oder 9) des
PA-24FR mit dem Endstufeneingang des Misch-
verstärkers (mögliche Beschriftung AMP IN) ver-
binden.
2) Ist in der Beschallungsanlage ein ELA-Vorver-
stärker und eine ELA-Endstufe vorhanden, den
PA-24FR zwischen diese beiden Geräte schalten
(Abb. 4):
Den Ausgang/ die Ausgänge des Vorverstärkers
an den Eingang/ die Eingänge (10 oder 11) des
PA-24FR anschließen und den Ausgang/ die
Ausgänge (8 oder 9) des PA-24FR an den Ein-
gang/ die Eingänge der Endstufe.
3) Zum Schluss das beiliegende Netzkabel zuerst in
die Netzbuchse (7) stecken und dann in eine
Steckdose (230 V~/ 50 Hz).
Hinweis: Wird der PA-24FR asymmetrisch ange-
schlossen, ist der Ausgangspegel geringer als der
Eingangspegel.
The unit will slightly increase the frequency of the
signal to be amplified. As the signal will be further
increased each time is goes through the feedback
loop, feedback whistling will largely be prevented.
All frequencies will be increased by the same
value so that the intervals between the notes will not
be quite correct any more when music is repro-
duced. The higher the frequency shift adjusted, the
more noticeable the mistuning (especially with low
notes). Thus, the suitability of PA-24FR for music
reproduction is limited.
4 Setting Up and Connecting the Unit
PA-24FR is provided for installation into a rack
(482 mm/ 19"), however, it can also be used as a
desktop unit to be placed as desired. For installation
into a rack, 1 RS (RS = rack space = 44.45 mm) is
required.
Prior to connecting or changing any connections,
switch off PA-24FR and the units to be connected.
Either use the XLR jacks or the screw terminals. To
facilitate handling, the green screw terminals can be
disconnected from the unit.
1) If the PA system is equipped with a PA mixing
amplifier, insert PA-24FR into the mixing amplifier
(fig. 3):
Connect the preamplifier output of the mixing
amplifier (possibly marked PRE OUT) to one of
the inputs (10 or 11) of PA-24FR. Connect the
corresponding output (8 or 9) of PA-24FR to the
power amplifier input of the mixing amplifier (pos-
sibly marked AMP IN).
2) If the PA system is equipped with a PA preampli-
fier and a PA power amplifier, insert PA-24FR
between these two units (fig. 4):
Connect the output/ outputs of the preamplifier to
the input/ inputs (10 or 11) of PA-24FR and the
output/ outputs (8 or 9) of PA-24FR to the input/
inputs of the power amplifier.
5 Bedienung
1) Den PA-24FR mit dem Netzschalter POWER (6)
einschalten. Die gelbe Betriebsanzeige (5) leuch-
tet auf.
2) Den Schalter FREQ SHIFT (1) in die Position
„operate" stellen.
3) Sobald ein Signal mit ausreichender Lautstärke
am Eingang anliegt, schaltet das zugehörige
Noise-Gate das in der Frequenz verschobene
Signal auf den Ausgang. Die zugehörige Anzeige
(4) leuchtet auf.
4) Die Lautstärke der Beschallungsanlage langsam
so weit erhöhen, bis der gewünschte Wert er -
reicht ist oder bis gerade ein Rückkopplungspfei-
fen auftritt. Bei einem Rückkopplungspfeifen mit
den Schaltern FREQUENCY SHIFT SELECTOR
(3) eine Frequenz wählen, bei der das Pfeifen
unterdrückt wird:
Die Frequenz stufenweise von 3 Hz bis 15 Hz er -
höhen. Stehen alle Schalter in der oberen Position
„off", beträgt die Frequenzverschiebung 3 Hz. Die
Schalter 4 – 15 Hz nacheinander auf „on" stellen,
bis kein Pfeifen mehr auftritt. Der Schalter in der
Position „on" mit der höchsten Frequenz bestimmt
den Wert für die Frequenzverschiebung.
5) Die Lautstärke auf den gewünschten Wert erhö-
hen. Tritt erneut ein Pfeifton auf, die Frequenz
wieder verändern.
6) Bei der Wiedergabe von Musik den Schalter
FREQ SHIFT nach Möglichkeit in die Position
„by-pass" stellen.
Hinweis: Bei einem Ausfall der Netzspannung oder,
wenn der PA-24FR ausgeschaltet ist, wird durch die
Bypass-Funktion das Eingangssignal unbeeinflusst
auf den Ausgang geschaltet.

3) Finally connect the mains cable provided, first to
a mains jack (7) and then to a mains socket
(230 V~/ 50 Hz).
Note: If PA-24FR has an unbalanced connection,
the output level will be lower than the input level.
5 Operation
1) Switch on PA-24FR with the POWER switch (6).
The yellow power LED (5) will light up.
2) Set the switch FREQ SHIFT (1) to the position
"operate".
3) Once a signal at sufficient volume is present at
the input, the corresponding noise gate will switch
the signal shifted in frequency to the output. The
corresponding LED (4) will light up.
4) Slowly increase the volume of the PA system until
the desired value is reached or feedback
whistling starts. In case of feedback whistling,
select a frequency with the switches FRE-
QUENCY SHIFT SELECTOR (3) which will sup-
press the whistling noise:
Increase the frequency step by step from 3 Hz to
15 Hz. With all switches in the upper position "off",
the frequency will be shifted by 3 Hz. Set the
switches 4 – 15 Hz successively to "on" until the
whistling noise stops. The switch in the position
"on" with the highest frequency will define the
value of the frequency shift.
5) Increase the volume to the value desired. If the
whistling noise recurs, modify the frequency again.
6) When reproducing music, set the switch FREQ
SHIFT to the position "by-pass", if possible.
Note: In case of mains failure or if PA-24FR is
switched off, the bypass function will switch the input
signal to the output without shifting it.
