Harmonics
Installation of capacitors on networks disturbed by
harmonics may require special precautions
especially when there is a risk of resonance
phenomena.
LVCS group assembly
To make a group of several LVCS capacitor units
(up to 3 maximum):
1. Place the LVCS capacitor units on a plane and
firm punched surface, side by side. Please note
that the lengthwise sides of the LVCS have
different shapes. One is provided with an
outward-directed slot, the other one with an
inward-directed slot. When assembling, make
sure that 2 different sides are facing each other
(Fig. #8).
2. Position the outward-directed slot side of one unit
above the inward-directed slot side of another
unit. Align them together. Then slide down the
upper unit (Fig. #9, #10). If any resistance, check
the position of each slots and their alignment.
3. Insert interconnection bars (optional) into the
openings at the top of the LVCS units (Fig. #11).
Push on both bar ends one after the other using
a flat tip screwdriver until the bar is blocked (Fig.
#12, #13).
LVCS fixation
Fix each LVCS unit through its 2 fixation holes by
means of M6-screws (not included) (Fig. #14).
For proper ventilation separate the LVCS unit by
2 cm/0.78 in. from each other.
Make sure that the rigidity of the support and the
screws are sufficient to bear the weight of the LVCS
capacitor unit(s).
Electrical connection
Cables should be rated at minimum 1.5 times the
nominal capacitor current.
The cable size should not exceed 50 mm
in case of flexible cable and not exceed
35 mm

in case of rigid cable.
Depending on the size of cable used, the lugs of
correct size should be fitted on the cable before
making the electrical connection. Non-isolated cable
lugs are recommended. In case isolated cable lugs
are used, the active part length of the lugs should
be comprised between 20-25 mm/0.79-0.98 in.
The lug must be properly fixed using the correct
tool. The cable with lug mounted on it should be
inserted in the cage type terminals of the LVCS.
While
tightening
the
4Nm/35in.lbs. should be applied for proper
electrical connection, without damaging the cable.
Before inserting the wires inside the LVCS
terminals, make sure the terminal screws are

#16). Care should be taken to avoid the strands
from going apart while inserting the cable in the
LVCS terminals.
Ensure that all connections are tight. Torque must
be 4Nm/35in.lbs.
COMMISSIONING
With the equipment isolated from the supply, check:
- Cabling is properly connected;
- Ambient ventilation is adequate
- Correct tightness of the connections.

ACCESSORIES (OPTIONAL)

Interconnection bars
The interconnection bars allow making one group of
LVCS capacitor units connected in parallel. One kit
of three bars is needed for a group of two LVCS
capacitor units.
Please revert to charts on pages 22 and 23 for max
rating (kvar) of LVCS group assembly.
For installation revert to LVCS group assembly
paragraph.
MAINTENANCE
1. Ensure safety procedures are completed (see
paragraph Safety);
2. Annual maintenance should include:
- Removal of dust deposits, cleaning of all parts;
- Check of tightness of all electrical connections;
- Check of ambient temperature.
To ungroup several LVCS units, remove the bars by
levering them up alternatively on both ends by
means of a 5 mm/0.2 in. plate tip screwdriver
(Fig. #17).
It is recommended to replace the LVCS capacitors
2
after 15 years from the manufacturing date. This is
considering that the disconnecting system may not
work properly after this duration due to ageing of
plastic material used in it.
