operation is performed by unqualified personnel
3 System Operating Range
The system is designed for a large operating range. Walls including steel reinforced concrete can be
penetrated. The maximum range can be achieved under optimum conditions and by line-of-sight
contact between transmitter and receiver without disruption by external high frequency disturbances.
The following are possible causes that could reduce the range of operation:
Obstructing buildings, vegetation or other factors will substantially reduce the operating range.
The distance between the antenna and the operator's body or other conducting objects (e.g.
Earth) may influence the working range.
Background "electrical noise" could be relatively high so that the signal-to-noise-ratio may
decrease and consequently affect the operating range. Also other devices, with similar operating
frequency, operated in the neighbourhood of the receiver may reduce the sensitivity.
Operating the receiver adjacent to badly shielded electronic components (e.g. PC's) that can
produce electromagnetic interferences, may severely reduce the range of operation and could
result in intermittent operation.
Caution: To avoid influence of "electrical noise" from the load connected to the receiver (e.g. DC-
Motor) install the receiver within a distance of 1 m.
4 Operation Description
The SHR-12 K1 provides the choice of a key-function or a timer switching function (up to 60 minutes)
as well as a steady switching function.
A channel with key-function can be set with the shortest timer setting (refer to table 1). The relay
remains closed as long as the transmitter key stays activated.
For applications, where, for example, inductances produce signal glitches due to electromagnetic
interference during the switching process (apparent relay bouncing), the timer setting can be
increased in small steps. The resulting delays, which can be considered as falling edge delays,
avoid the undesirable bouncing of the relay contacts when short glitches occur.
Furthermore, the adjustable timer settings provide time-limited switching (falling edge delayed) of
any number of devices.
For applications that require a steady on/off switching, the user can select the static function
(one button switches on and a second button switches off)
Independently of the selected function, the relay can be controlled also by a wired connection, e.g. via
an external push-button (not included in delivery).
The SHR-12 always confirms a received control signal to the corresponding transmitter. The user may
recognize the confirmation by the blinking red LED of the transmitter.
5 Connection
All connections must comply with local regulations and standards, including
VDE0100, VDE0700, VDE0550/0551, VDE0711 and VDE0860. Only solid core cable
is to be used for connection, since stress relief is not provided on the product
terminal connection block. As per DIN 0700 / IEC 335 / EN 60335, no protective
earth cable terminal is provided.
Voltages greater than 35V must be switched only with the relay when the receiver is mounted
in an isolated case.
According to regulations, only authorised, qualified personnel must open or install this product. If in
doubt, seek professional help before attempting to install. Incorrect Installation can damage the
product and other connected devices and increase the risk of electric shock, damaged contacts, or fire
hazard.
Attention. Extreme danger!
When opening the product, live components may be touched. Isolate SHR-12 K1
from the mains power supply before opening. Ensure that all connected devices
and components are also disconnected from the mains-power supply.
Operating Instructions (GB)
6 Installation
Open the housing by turning the 4 screws in the bottom left hand side.
Because the circuit board is open, make sure that no static discharges occur and that the
components will not be damaged!
Open cable entries using a suitable piercing tool. To avoid damage to electronics, only entries on
the screw-terminal side should be used.
Connect all connection cables for the power supply at the corresponding screw terminals. Please
note that the voltage applied at screw-terminals 1 and 2 can be only between 12 and 24 V. You
can apply DC or AC voltages, which means, you can ignore the polarity in case of DC voltage.
The maximum cross section of wires to be used is limited to 1.5 mm²
The connection wires are to be stripped to a maximum of 4 mm (to avoid accidental contact)
Connect the wires to devices into screw-terminals for change-over-contacts NC/CC/NO as per fig
1.
All wiring should be installed neatly and rectilinearly. Powered wiring must not be mounted over
the electronic board. Care must be taken that wiring is not squeezed or damaged.
6.1 Frequency Selection
All devices of the series SH-12 are delivered with the working frequency 433.62MHz. If distortions at
this frequency occur you may change over to the second frequency available (434.22MHz) by
selecting the position f2 as per fig 1.
6.2 Coding
The transmitters of the series SH-12 all have unique serial numbers. After connection to the supply
each receiver SHR-12 K1 could be programmed (taught) with up to 60 individual address codes.
Attention !
The receiver SHR-12 has to learn each transmitters serial number before it
operates the transmitters signal.
Briefly press the "LEARN/ERASE" button (fig 1). The LED above illuminates.
On the transmitter press a button (e.g. Key 1) until the LED flashes.
The radio-code now is stored in the receiver.
Check for error free operation of the receiver by pressing the transmitter
button(s) again when LED is extinguished. If the address is learned correctly,
the clicking operation of the relay will be audible.
Repeat the procedure for the next transmitter if so.
6.3 Erase Coding
Pressing "LEARN/ERASE" button for a minimum of 5 sec. will delete all stored
data. Delete is done when the LED previously illuminated starts flashing.
6.4 Contribution of transmitter buttons
Select the desired function of your receiver using „ON/OFF" jumpers :
The jumper in the uppermost position "ON" effects that the relay can be switched on with the
transmitter key 1, 2, 3 or 4.
The jumper in the lower position "OFF" effects that the relay can be switched off with the transmitter
key 1, 2, 3 or 4.
6.5 Key, Timer or Permanent Connection Switching Functions
After specifying which transmitter key will control the relay, the next step is to set the time for the relay
function.
The connection duration or the disconnection delay can be selected via the 6 switches (see Figure 1:
Timer setting). Table 1 shows all possible values; factory pre-set values are printed in bold.
If the user requires a channel with key-function, the shortest time in Table 2 should be used. The
corresponding relay will stay closed only as long as the transmitter key remains active.
Caution: If due to electromagnetic interference during the switching process (e.g. from inductances),
short transmitter interruptions occur (which may be perceived as relay bouncing), the timer setting can
be increased in steps. These times that can be considered as falling delays, avoiding the undesirable
„bouncing" effect of the relay contacts.
Higher timer values adjustable up to 60 minutes allow the user to program the connection of any
devices for a specific length of time.
Furthermore, a steady connection (continuous ON) can be selected as well. The disconnection (power
OFF) can be performed with a separate signal, i.e. a separate transmitter key.
6.6 Auxiliary Input "Ext.ON"
If instead of or in addition to a wireless control, the relay needs to be switched on/off by means of a
wired connection, the positive supply can be used to produce a corresponding „ON" command to
contact "Ext.-ON" by means of an external push-button (not included in delivery). In case of AC one of
pole of supply is sufficient.
6.7 Example
Key 1 of the transmitter shall switch on permanently the relay and key 2 shall switch off.
- connect 12 V
- briefly press the "LEARN/ERASE" button (LED illuminates)
- press any transmitter key (LED flashes)
- put Jumper "T1" in position "ON"
- put Jumper "T2" in position "OFF"
7 Antenna
The receiver SHR-12 K1 is equipped with an integrated antenna that has optimal reception
characteristics.
If the antenna needs to be installed at a different location, the user can use an extension with a 50-
Ohm coaxial cable.
The cable can be soldered directly to the connection "ANT" and the shield to "GND_ANT" as per fig. 1.
In this case the integrated antenna shall be taken off.
No gain antennas shall be used.
