• Discharge pipework
A non-return valve is fitted on the condensing unit close to the condenser. It helps reduce pressure prior
to start up and prevents the return of liquid refrigerant to the compressor during the off cycle.
• Liquid pipework
Pressure drop in the pipework must be prevented. The components fitted to the liquid line such as
the filter drier, solenoid valve, liquid line sight glass can have a pressure drop which is significant.
The pressure drop per component should be checked to ensure it is not excessive.

Electrical connections

Always check that the electrical supply is disconnected before carrying
out any work on the condensing unit.

General recommendations

To maintain the quality of a TECUMSEH EUROPE S.A. condensing unit and to ensure the safety and
smooth running of the installation it essential to:
- Verify that the voltage of the installation power supply is compatible with that of the condensing unit
(see identification label, page 14).
- Verify the compatibility of the wiring diagram with that of the installation.
- Size the wiring for the model of condensing unit installed (power and control wiring) using the tables
in the appendix 2, page 55, which give the current rating.
- Ensure the supply to the unit is correctly protected and earthed.
- The wiring must conform to the electrical standards of the country.
Connecting components
Please refer to the wiring diagrams (see appendix 2, pages 56 to 59) when connecting components.
- Connect all control and safety devices installed in the application.
- Use the clips fitted to the condensing unit to fix down cabling.
- Close the electrical box after wiring.

- If the compressor is located higher than the evaporator, suction risers
must be used. Pipeline velocity must be sufficient to ensure oil flow in
the suction risers.
- If the compressor is on the same level or lower than the evaporator, we
recommend that swan neck suction line is used where the top of the
swan neck is above the evaporator.
