TIME PROGRAMMING
Programming the travel distance can be carried out even with the boom
open as long as it is blocked. You can only enter the programming mode
when the safety devices TB, FTCI and CSP are at rest and the electronic
card is receiving mains power.
1) Press and hold down P3 PROG for 4 seconds: "PAUSE" will appear on
the display:
2) Press P3 PROG: the indication "PAUSE" will flash and the pause time
count will start.
3) Wait for the desired pause time to pass.
4) Press P3 PROG : the time count will stop and the automatic travel distance
programming procedure will start ("Auto" will appear on the display).
5) A low speed closing manoeuvre will be carried out until the boom reaches
the completely close position.
6) After 0.5 seconds the barrier will open at normal speed, wait for the
pause time to elapse and then close again. This completes the automatic
programming cycle and the control unit saves the parameters and exits
the programming mode.
From this moment onwards the control unit is in its normal function mode.
SPEED CONTROL
The speed of the motor is controlled, with rapid start up and deceleration
at the end of the opening/closing manoeuvre. "FRA" in the opening direc-
tion and "FRC" in the closing direction cause a change in velocity while the
activation of the travel limits FCA/FCC block the motor (completely open/
closed position).
It is therefore important that the travel limits mounted on the barrier are
maintained in good working order and that they are carefully set if they need
to be replaced. The choice of the type of boom being used "3" metres or "4"
metres can be selected by the switch "S1" on the circuit board.
Attention! The correct setting of the switch "S1" is fundamental
for the correct working order of the appliance and for the validity of
the guarantee supplied by the constructor.
To this end the control unit carries out a "correct operation control" which
indicates eventual anomalies by activating the klaxon (KLX) if the boom
is completely open and lights up the LED "L2" during deceleration.
If the control unit is running off battery power deceleration is excluded
and the maximum velocity may less than the normal velocity when you
are using the mains supply.
When you move the boom manually or when you switch on the
appliance without travel limits active the programmer activates
the position identification mode: the movement of the boom
will be slow until it crosses a travel limit because it is only at this
point that the programmer can reliably identify the position of the
boom and consequently activate the normal operating speed.
ADJUSTING THE TRAVEL LIMITS
The mechanical deceleration and the manoeuvre end travel limits are factory
set for the best use of the barrier; if you are faced with the simultaneous
activation of a pair of travel limits (e.g. the deceleration travel limits or the
manoeuvre end travel limits, the motor will block and the programmer will
display an error:
• "StOP t": in the case of a manoeuvre end travel limit alarm (FCA/FCC)
• "StOP r": in the case of a deceleration travel limit alarm (FRA/FRC)
• "StOP E": in the case of deceleration travel limit and a manoeuvre end
travel limit activated simultaneously (FRA+FCA; FRC+FCC)
The warning light is activated for 3 seconds and is repeated every 6 seconds;
once normal operating conditions have been restored the programmer will be
reset. If the boom isn't completely closed a 10-second pre-flashing period
will pass and then the boom will automatically close. If maintenance has to
be carried out to the deceleration travel limits ("O" and "N" fig. 8), make sure
they are released before the boom arrives at the completely closed position.
Attention! Adjust the deceleration travel limit remembering that the program-
mer will activate the motor during the deceleration stage for a maximum of
5 seconds.

BATTERY POWERED OPERATION

In case of blackouts the two 12 Vdc lead batteries (wired in series) guarantee
operation.
Battery powered operation is indicated by the segments lighting up in rota-
tion on the display when the boom is completely closed. When the battery
is charged
appears; When the battery is discharging
batteries are completely flat
completely open position until the mains supply comes back on line, after
which the unit will pre-flash for 10 seconds and then close automatically.
To increase the battery life time the external loads (e.g. photoelectric
cells) will be cut off at binding posts 17-18 (CTRL 24V) thus limiting power
consumption; this means that the following will happen each time a com-
mand is received:
appears. If the
will appear and the boom will block in the
• The control unit sends power to the photocells and waits for a long enough
time to allow them to stabilise (about 0,6 seconds);
• Evaluates the status of the safety devices;
• If everything is OK, the command will be carried out and the motor will be
activated otherwise the barrier will remain at rest.
As a result of this, external devices such as metal detector loops
etc. must be wired to binding posts 13-14, in order to make sure
they receive power. The same applies to an external receiver and
it is only in this way that the remote signal can activate the motor.
• The batteries allow the barrier even during blackouts: The autonomy that
can be obtained when the batteries are completely charged and working
at an environment temperature of 20°C is 500 manoeuvres, this figure
could drop to 200 depending on:
- the battery lifetime
- the operating temperature
- the length of the blackout
- the power input of the loads connected to binding posts 13-14.
To obtain maximum performance you are advised therefore to replace
the batteries every three years.
• As the battery voltage is applied to both the control unit logic as well as
the motor deceleration towards the end of the manoeuvre will not be
available and the speed will depend on the battery power voltage
The wires connecting the battery to the charger card (fig. 18)
must never be short circuited, this would damage the battery,
and in the worst of cases could lead to burns (if metal parts
are touching the skin when the contact is made). Only connect
them to the binding post 9-10 and make sure you respect the
polarity. If the batteries are damaged they could leak acid. The
batteries must only be installed/removed by qualified personnel.
Used batteries must not be thrown into domestic rubbish bins
and they must be disposed according to the local standards
and regulations in force.
REMOTE CONTROL (fig. 19, page 23)
The system can be remotely activated using radio control devices that carry
out the sequential command function. The sequential command is ignored
during opening, when the boom is completely open it starts the closing
sequence and during closing it inverts the travel direction.
Memory module (M1)
This is extractable, furnished with a non volatile EEPROM type memory
and contains the transmitter codes and allows you to memorise up to 300
codes. The programmed codes are maintained in this module even in the
absence of power.
Note: Before memorising the transmitters for the first time remember to
cancel the entire memory content. If the electronic card has to be replaced
due to failure, the module can be extracted from it and inserted into the new
card. Make sure that the module is correctly inserted as shown in fig. 19.
Signal LEDs "L3" (fig. 19)
Flashing quickly:
cancels a single code
Flashing slowly:
memorises a single code
Permanently lit:
memory full.
TRANSMITTER CODE MANAGEMENT
Memorising a channel (fig. 19)
1. Press and hold down button "P1" MEMO: The LED "L3" will flash slowly.
2. At the same time activate the transmitter which is to be memorised.
3. Hold down button "P1" MEMO until LED "L3" starts to flash again.
4. Release the MEMO button: The LED will continue to flash.
5. Activate the transmitter again (same transmitter, same channel; if the
channel is different or it is a different transmitter the memorisation attempt
will abort without success).
6. End of memorisation: the LED "L3" will remain lit for 2 seconds, indicating
that the transmitter has been correctly memorised.
Note: It is not possible to memorise a code which is already in memory: if you
attempt this, the LED will switch off when you activate the transmitter (point
2). Only after releasing the button "P1" MEMO will you be able to continue
the memorising procedure. If after activating the transmitter for the first time
you wait for more than fifteen seconds without activating the transmitter a
second time the memorisation attempt will abort without success.
