4 Function

This device is an adapter to allow secure connection between a Blatchford female pyramid
connector on a prosthetic limb and a prosthetic socket with a 4-bolt connection. The device
provides horizontal slide adjustment in the anterior-posterior plane, rotational and tilt
adjustment in the vertical plane.
When the adapter's 4-bolt connection screws are securely fastened to the socket, and the grub
screws on the attaching limb's female pyramid are securely fastened to the adapter's male
pyramid, then the device provides a secure connection between limb and socket.
For correct screw torque settings and Loctite application for secure connection, refer to the
Construction section for the 4-bolt connection and refer to the Instructions for Use of the
attaching Blatchford device for the pyramid connection.

5 Maintenance

Visually check the device regularly.
Report any changes in performance of this device to the practitioner/service provider e.g.
unusual noises, loss of alignment or looseness.
Inform the practitioner/service provider of any changes in body weight and/or activity level.
Cleaning
Use a damp cloth and mild soap to clean outside surfaces, do not use aggressive cleansers.
Thoroughly dry before use.
The remaining instructions in this section are for practitioner use only.
This maintenance must be carried out only by competent personnel (practitioner or suitable
trained technician).
The following routine maintenance is to be carried out at least annually:
• Check the alignment parts for tightness (see Construction section). If loose, remove and
clean, then apply Loctite and tighten to the correct torque setting.
• Check for defects that could affect proper function.
Ensure the user has read and understood all safety and user-level maintenance information.
Advise the user that a regular visual check of the foot is recommended and signs of wear that
may affect function should be reported to their service provider.
If this device is used for extreme activity, the maintenance level and interval should be reviewed
and if required advice and technical support sought to plan a new maintenance schedule
dependent upon the frequency and nature of the activity. This should be determined by a local
risk assessment carried out by a suitably qualified individual.
