Decalcifying
Attention! To ensure the safe function of the coffee maker, the coffee maker
must be descaled on a regular basis. The intervals depend on the intensity
of use and the lime content in the water. Check the coffee maker, especially
the safety valve, for limescale residues before each use.
1. Start as in "Thorough cleaning".
2. Model-based, the safety valve is equipped with a movable pin. Pull the
pin forward from the outside to the resistance and release the pin. By the
rebound of the pin, the calcifications in the safety valve are loosened.
3. Fill the lower part of the coffee maker to the edge with a solution of citric
acid or vinegar. For heavy calcification, use commercially available
descaling agent according to the instructions given there. Attention! It is
important that especially the safety valve has contact with the solution
or the descaling agent.
4. Insert the funnel into the lower part so that it is also descaled.
5. Remove the sieve from the upper part and place it in a separate
container with the used solution or descaling agent.
6. Leave everything until the lime has dissolved completely.
7. Afterwards, pour some of the liquid out of the lower part so that the safety
valve is no longer in the liquid.
8. Make sure the sieve and gasket are properly inserted in the upper part of
the coffee maker. Place the upper part straight on the lower part, so that
they do not jam and turn both parts tightly together. Attention! Do not
add espresso powder.
9. Place the coffee maker on a suitable heat source and heat it only at a
medium level to avoid overboiling and to protect the coffee maker. If the
liquid has flowed into the upper part, remove the coffee maker from the
heat source immediately. Once the coffee maker has cooled down,
repeat the process one to two times with the used solution.
10. After that, clean the coffee maker again, as in "Thorough cleaning".
