1 OVERVIEW

The Elcometer 4270 is a simple but
effective instrument for applying uniform
and reproducible strips of coating to a flat
and relatively firm substrate.
Manufactured in stainless steel, the Elcometer 4270 has 11 notches of
increasing clearance.
The sag tester is placed at one end of the substrate and the coating is
poured on to the substrate, in front of the sag tester.
The Elcometer 4270 is then pushed across the substrate, by hand or
by using a motorised film applicator such as the Elcometer 4340, to
produce strips of coating which are assessed to determine the sag
characteristics of the coating.
