Medical explanation of the effect of light therapy
Today we know that sun light acts like a natural clock for many of our physiological processes. Bright light travels in the
form of electric impulses via the eyes and the optical nerves to the nervous system's inner timer in our brain. This "time
giver" processes the information about light and darkness and instructs other parts of the brain to rhythmically distribute
chemical messengers. Bright light thus stimulates the production of chemical messengers which influences the mood and
suppresses the production of the body's sleep inducing hormone.
How to use the DAVITA
The light therapy boxes can be used against the following disease:

Some basic information before using the light therapy units
Before use, kindly check that the instrument is in functional order and that there is no sign of damage. Phototherapy instru-
ments must only be operated in dry and closed rooms that are free of any explosion risks. The device is not suitable for
use in the presence of flammable anesthetic mixtures with air or with oxygen or nitrous oxide. The instruments must be
standing free and should not be exposed to sun.
How to carry out light therapy
Place the instrument on an even surface and connect the plug with a wall socket. The light therapy boxes have on the back
a fixture to swing-out, so that the units have a save stand. Sit down in front of the instrument and keep a distance of approx.

Move the tilting switch to „On" and the device begins to glow. After the application time switch off the device.
Keep your eyes open during the treatment. You are in the position to read, watch TV or carry out any other activities. After
every 1 – 2 minutes you should look for a few seconds into the light source. A constant staring into the light source must
be avoided. If you want to cover the phototherapy instrument after use allow the instrument to cool down at least 15 minutes.
Important: In order to be protected against UV-rays, the light box must only be operated with its original protective filter in
place.
Fastening of light therapy units on the wall
The light therapy units can be mounted on the wall.
On the back side of the top of these light therapy units there is an opening in the middle below the air vents
mounted must have a capacity of at least 3 kg.
The light therapy units have on the back a fixture to swing out. This has to be removed before the fastening. Therefore 4
screws must be removed completely. Afterwards the screws have to be screwed in for safekeeping.

At this opening the units can be fixed on the wall with a screw. Depending
on the type of wall, an appropriate screw must be used, may be with pegs.
E.g. a round head wood screw which is screwed into an expansion anchor.
The screw and the anchor are not included in the scope of delivery.
The screw head must not exceed a max. height of 6 mm and a max. diame-
ter of 8 mm. The distance from the wall to the screw head can be max. 8
mm. The screw shaft may have a maximum diameter of 4 mm. The load
on the screw and the condition of the wall, to which the unit has to be
