PIN and PUK
PIN (Personal Identifi cation Number) se-
cures the SIM card against unauthorised
use. The PIN can be arbitrarily changed
(see chapter "Options in the Settings
menu", section "Security settings"). If the
PIN is entered incorrectly three times, the
PUK code (Personal Unblocking Key) is
required in order to unlock the SIM card.
PIN2 and PUK2
Some SIM cards require a PIN2 code to
access certain functions (e.g. phone num-
ber restriction). The PIN2 code is also
provided by the network operator.
Some mobile telephoning providers also
offer, among other things, the ability to re-
charge the balance of prepaid SIM cards
with the PIN2.
IMPORTANT: If a person determines
the PIN2, then he or she can directly re-
charge his or her account and debit these
costs to your bank account. You should
therefore never share your PIN2 with an-
yone!
