SIM card
The SIM card (Subscriber Identity Module)
is a chip card, which is inserted in a mo-
bile phone and which identifi es the user in
the network. It enables mobile telephon-
ing providers to provide users with mobile
phone and data connections.
The SIM card can be protected against un-
authorised use by means of a modifi able
PIN. It helps to assign and authenticate the
mobile phone to a network.
The SIM also stores data and networks.
