To open a flameproof enclosure with switch
(see Fig. 2), the switch shall be switched off at
the switch toggle, item 4. Then the screw in
the bore-hole of the switch toggle, item 3, can
be turned until idling, after which the cover,
item 2, can be removed from the base, item
1, by turning it anticlockwise.
Warning: The cover shall be safeguarded
against falling off.
The connection of explosion-protected
flameproof enclosures and distributions
may only be carried out by specialists.
The permissible ambient temperature, the
terminal cross section and the self-
heating of the apparatus, that is mainly
caused by the power dissipation are to be
observed to ensure that the temperature
class stated on the type label of the
apparatus is maintained.
Explosion-protected empty housings
must be certified after assembly by an
inspection station or for the examination
of entitled persons.
6.3
Cable entries (KLE);
blanking plugs
Generally only certified cable entries and
blanking plugs may be used.
The mounting directives applicable to the
cable entries fitted shall be observed.
Any unused metric Cooper Crouse-Hinds /
CEAG moulded plastic cable entries shall be
sealed with the blanking plug certified for
these metric cable entries.

The relevant mounting directives for the
built-in cables entries shall be observed.

When fitting cable entries, it is necessary to

ensure that the sealing inserts used are
suitable for the cable diameter.
When using apparatus or cable entries for
the connection to or into the apparatus, when
applicable, the relevant special conditions for
safe use given in the individual certificates
shall be considered.

6.4
Closing the apparatus/
cover closure
Any foreign matter shall be removed from
the apparatus.
For reasoning the cover of the pressure resistant
housing must be put on correct on the housing
lower part (if necessarily covers to turn to the left).
Before screwing in the cover thread is to be
greased. Preferably with type of fat:
Renocal, university Universities of 2, -50°C to
+100°C, FN 745/94, DIN VOLKSWAGEN tl
745).
The cover of the enclosure have to be
turned down clockwise into the cover-
base, till the stop.
To fixing of the enclosure-cover, the fixing-
screw (Pos.3, Pic 1&2), or the switch in the
enclosure-cover, have to be used.

Putting into operation

Before putting the apparatus into operation,
the tests specified in the individual national
regulations shall be performed.
In addition to this, before being put into
operation, the correct functioning of the
apparatus and of the built-in components
(measuring instruments, signal lamps,
pushbuttons, etc.) shall be checked in
accordance with these operating instructions
and other applicable regulations.
Warning: Only certified apparatus may be
put into operation
If the Explosion-protected flameproof
enclosures interior temperatures under -
20 °C the system mustn´t be operated.
If lower temperatures are present, the
Explosion-protected flameproof
enclosures must become pre-heated with
a suitable certified heating on over -20 °C.
If an uncertified heating is used to pre-
heat the flameproof enclosures inside
temperature on over -20 °C,explosive
atmosphere mustn´t to be present.

Maintenance / Servicing
The relevant national regulations which apply
to the maintenance/repair of electrical
apparatus in explosive atmospheres, will have
to be observed (in Germany e.g. ElexV,
VDE 0105 part 9).
Before opening the enclosure make sure that
the apparatus is disconnected from the
voltage, or take the appropriate protective
measures.
The necessary intervals between servicing
depend upon the specific application and
shall be stipulated by the operator according
to the respective operating conditions.
1. Flameproof enclosures
Visual inspection of the cover thread.
The thread shall not be treated or varnished!
Any damaged parts shall be replaced
immediately using original parts or the
damaged parts shall be repaired by the
manufacturer.
2. Connection and bus bar boxes
Check all seals for efficiency and intactness.
Replace older or damaged seals with new
seals. Check that connection terminals and
cable entries fit securely.
If, in the course of servicing, it is ascertained,
that repairs are necessary, section 8 of these
operating instructions shall be observed.

Repairs / Overhaul /
Modifications
Only original Cooper Crouse-Hinds / CEAG
parts shall be used for carrying out repairs
that concern the explosion protection.
In the event of damage to the flameproof
encapsulation, replacement of these
components is mandatory. In case of
doubt, the respective apparatus shall be
sent to Cooper Crouse-Hinds / CEAG for
repair.
Reconstruction or modifications to
apparatus are only possible within the
scope of the approvals and shall be
certified afterwards.
Moreover, additional terminals within the
scope of the apparatus approvals and
cables entries according to the details given
by the manufacturer may be fitted.

Disposal / Recycling
The respective valid national regulations for
waste disposal shall be observed when
disposing of apparatus.
The product range is subject to changes and
additions.
