CLEANING AND DISINFECTION

• Disconnect the suction catheter (18), the manual suction regulator (17) and the tube (15) from the
collection jar (16). Disconnect the tubes (8/10) both from the jar and the antibacterial filter (9) and empty
the unit (into the WC at home and into the biological material container in a hospital) and clean the jar.
In order to clean the accessories immediately after use, it is sufficient to rinse the individual parts under
running water. All accessories can be disinfected or sterilised choosing one of these methods:
a) by boiling (5-10 mins.); this methods cannot be used for the connection tubes
b) by active-chlorine-based chemical disinfectant which is commonly available in drugstores and
pharmacies
c) by cold chemical sterilizers (peracetic acid based).
NOTE: should chemical disinfectants and/or sterilizers be used, strictly follow the instructions
provided by the manufacturer.
• The suction catheter and the manual suction regulator are disposable sterile products and should be
replaced after each application.
• The disposable antibacterial filter should be replaced within 24 hours after its first use.
• Never immerse or wash the unit under running water; wipe clean the unit external body only with a damp
cloth using a mild detergent.(Do not use abrasive cleaners).
• Reassemble the collection jar and the connection tubes according to the instructions in the section
"INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE".

Microbial contamination
The accessories, collection jar and connection tubes are for single person use only. If used by more than
one person cross infections may occur. Consult your physician if in any doubt.
Cross reactions
The materials used in manufacture of the unit that come into contact with body-secretions are thermoplastic
polymers. These polymers have been selected due to their excellent chemical stability and resistance (PP, PC,
SI). The possibility of a chemical interaction, however, should not be excluded. The following precautions are
therefore recommended:
a) Prolonged contact between liquid and collection jar or tubes should be avoided; always wash, disinfect or
sterilise these parts immediately after use.
b) If unexpected situations occur, for example, the accessories crack or become soft, stop treatment immediately
and substitute the accessories used. Contact an authorised dealer for service specifying how suctioning was
being performed.
