These instructions are intended for users
without any specific technical knowledge.
Please read these instructions carefully
before operation and keep them for later
reference.
All operating elements and connec-
tions de scribed can be found on the fold-
out page 3.
1 Overview
1 Jack DC IN for the power supply unit /
charger provided
2 RECHARGE LED; will light up while the
batteries inserted are being recharged
3 3.5 mm jack AUX IN to connect an audio
unit with line output (e. g. CD player or
MP3 player)
4 3.5 mm jack MIC IN to connect the head-
band microphone provided
5 POWER LED
6 Volume control VOL with on-off switch

2 Safety Notes

The units (microphone, active speaker,
plug-in charger) correspond to all rele-
vant directives of the EU and are therefore
marked with
WARNING The plug-in charger uses
dangerous mains voltage.
Leave servicing to skilled
personnel
handling or modification of the charger
may result in electric shock.
Only use the plug-in charger to recharge
nickel metal hydrate batteries (NiMH).
Dry batteries are not rechargeable; if
you try to recharge them, they may leak
or even explode!
The units are suitable for indoor use
only. Protect them against dripping wa-
ter and splash water, high air humidity
and heat (admissible ambient tempera-
ture range 0 – 40 °C).

Do not operate the plug-in charger
or immediately disconnect it from the
socket
1. if the plug-in charger or the active
speaker is visibly damaged,
2. if a defect might have occurred after a
unit was dropped or suffered a similar
accident,
3. if malfunctions occur.
In any case the units must be repaired by
skilled personnel.
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth;
never use water or chemicals.
No guarantee claims for the units and no
liability for any resulting personal dam-
age or material damage will be accepted
if the units are used for other purposes
than originally intended, if they are not
correctly connected or operated, or if
they are not repaired in an expert way.
If the units are to be put out of
operation definitively, take them
to a local recycling plant for a
disposal which will not be harm-
ful to the environment.

3 Applications

WAP-5 is specially designed to amplify
the voice picked up by the microphone.
The practical belt strap allows to wear the
amplifier around your waist and ensures
complete freedom of movement. Thus, the
unit is ideally suited for lectures, training
sessions, sports training, etc.
To reproduce music, it will be possi-
ble to connect an audio player (e. g. MP3
player or CD player).

4 Power Supply

WAP-5 is operated via rechargeable or non-
rechargeable batteries or via the power
supply unit provided which is also used to
recharge the rechargeable batteries.
1) For operation with the power supply
unit, connect the power supply unit to
the jack DC IN (1) and to a mains socket
(230 V/ 50 Hz).
