7. Electrostatic discharge
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage, which can occur when electronic boards or components are
improperly handled, may result in complete or intermittent failure. Whenever mounting the product in an
amplified controller ALWAYS apply the following guidelines to prevent ESD damage:
VOLTAGE
 ALWAYS use an ESD-preventive wrist or ankle strap providing good skin contact. Connect the
equipment's end cord to an ESD connection socket or to bare metal connected to ground.
 Attach the ESD wrist strap BEFORE starting opening the amplified controller.
 AVOID touching the top and bottom sides of the product, as well as its components and connector
pins. ONLY touch its sides with the finger tips.
 ALWAYS place any removed product on an antistatic surface or in a static shielding bag.
 AVOID contact between the components and clothing as the wrist strap only protects the board from
ESD voltage coming from the body, not from clothing.
 Periodically check the resistance value of the ESD strap. The measurement should be between 1 and 10
Megohms.
8. Manual
Keep this manual in a safe place during the product lifetime. This manual forms an integral part of the
product. Reselling of the product is only possible if the user manual is available. Any changes made to the
IMPORTANT
product have to be documented in writing and passed on to the buyer in the event of resale.
