Avoid pressing the "ON/OFF" switch when lifting or carrying
the power tool and it is plugged in. There may be contact
with the sanding disc and clothing may get jammed.
Control and safety devices fitted to the power tool may not
be removed or inhibited.
If the sander allows dust extraction devices to be fitted,
ensure these are properly attached and used correctly. The
use of vacuum cleaners reduces dust and associated
hazards.
Do not cover the power tool during operation. To avoid risk
of
overheating,
keep
unobstructed to allow airflow.
When operating the drywall sander, adopt a stable position
and always keep your balance. Hold the power tool firmly
to ensure continuous operation and withstand unexpected
situations, such as kickback.
Kickback is a sudden reaction that happens when the
sander is switched on and when the sanding disc gets stuck
or is squeezed. The kickback causes the rotating part to
stop instantly, which causes the sander arm to be forced to
rotate in the opposite direction to the rotation of the
sanding disc.
Kickback occurs due to incorrect use of the sander or work
procedures that are not appropriate for the work being
performed and can cause serious injury to the user. To
avoid kickback, the following precautions must be
considered:
▪ Place and keep the sanding disc in the correct position
and tighten securely;
▪ Never place your hand near the rotating part, it may may
recoil on your hand;
▪ Always use the additional handle to achieve maximum
control of kickback forces or reaction torques during
acceleration;
▪ Do not position your body in the area where the sander
arm will move in the event of a kickback;
▪ Work particularly carefully on corners, sharp edges or
gaps in the walls and ceilings to be sanded. Avoid
bumping the Velcro pad during work. Do not use the
sander if the walls or ceilings have a very uneven surface.
