3.0 USING THE MICROSCOPE
1) ON-OFF: press this button to turn on or off the LED illuminator.
2) BOOST: press this button in order to increase the brightness (useful for high-magnification objecti
ves or very opaque specimens).
3) AUTO-OFF: if you want the illuminator to switch off automatically, press this button until 15,
30 or 60 minutes delay is set. After this period of time, the light will turn off. You have to press the
ON-OFF (1) button to turn it on again.
4) MEM and 5) AUTO:
B-1000 is provided with a special function for automatic brightness adjustment.
When this function is enabled, the level of light is adjusted by the microscope in order to maintain
the same level as the one the user has chosen, no matter if the aperture of the diaphgram changes,
another objective is inserted, opacity of the sample changes, etc.
First step is to manually adjust the brightness (with the proper knob) in order to reach a suitable
level of intensity.
In order to store this light level into memory, press MEM button (4): light will turn off for a couple of
seconds, then the LED indicator above the AUTO button (5) will turn on. This means that the micro-
scope is in AUTO-brightness mode and will keep the stored intensity value.
If you want to return in manual brightness adjustment (through the knob), press the AUTO button
(5): its LED indicator will turn off. Press it again to return in automatic mode.
To change the stored intensity level, press the AUTO button (5), so that its LED indicator is off, then
manually adjust the light brightness to a desired level (using the knob). Finally, press the MEM but-
ton (4) to store the new value and enter the automatic mode.

Do not enable boost mode while observing with low magnification
objectives (4x, 10x) with fully open diaphgram: the high brightness may
hurt user's eyes.
In order for the automatic brightness system to work properly, avoid to store
light levels which are too bright or too dim.
