3.0 DESCRIPTION
The Enerpac DGR-2 digital pressure gauge is
designed to monitor system pressures of up
to 20,000 psi [1380 bar]. Standard features
include:
• Displays available in multiple units: psi, bar,
mPa and kg/cm
2
(user-selectable).
• Zero reset feature ensures that gauge reads
actual system pressure.
• Powered by two 1.5V AA batteries (included).
• IP67 rated case design.
• User-selectable gauge shut-off timer.
• CE and RoHS compliant.
Note: Refer to Section 7.0 of this manual for
detailed product specifi cations and installa-
tion dimensions.
4.0 INSTALLATION INFORMATION
IMPORTANT: To ensure proper operation and
to help prevent gauge failure, read and under-
stand the following instructions and precau-
tions before installing the gauge.
WARNING: A failure resulting in
personal injury and/or property
damage may be caused by
excessive overpressure, excessive vibration
or pressure pulsation, excessive instrument
temperature, corrosion of the pressure
containing parts, or other misuse. Consult
Enerpac before installing the gauge if there are
any questions or concerns.
Overpressure
:
Pressure spikes in excess of the rated pressure
of the gauge may cause irreversible electrical
and/or mechanical damage to the pressure
measuring and containing elements. Fluid
hammer and surges can destroy any pressure
transducer and must always be avoided.
A pressure snubber should be installed to
eliminate the damaging hammer eff ects. Fluid
hammer occurs when a liquid fl ow is suddenly
stopped, as with quick closing solenoid valves.
Surges occur when fl ow is suddenly begun, as
when a pump is turned on at full power or a
valve is quickly opened.
WARNING: Gauge is rated at
20,000 psi [1380 bar] maximum
pressure. Never exceed this
maximum pressure rating.
Pressure Surges:
Surges are particularly damaging to pressure
gauges if the pipe is originally empty. To avoid
pressure surges, fl uid lines should remain full
(if possible), pumps should be brought up to
power slowly, and valves opened slowly. To
avoid damage from both fl uid hammer and
surges, a surge chamber should be installed.
Symptoms of fluid hammer and surge's
damaging eff ects:
• Digital gauge exhibits large zero off set.
• Digital gauge pressure display remains
constant regardless of pressure.
• Error code is displayed on screen.
Cold Temperatures:
Formation of ice in the gauge pressure port
can cause permanent damage to the gauge.
Whenever possible, mount the gauge in the
upright vertical position to help prevent possible
overpressure damage due to freezing.
Note: Inspect the entire hydraulic system for
leaks if it is suspected that water has entered
the system. Make required repairs before
returning system to operation.
Installation Requirements:
A 1-1/16 inch [27mm] hex wrench is required
for tightening the gauge to the hydraulic
connection. Apply Tefl on tape or a suitable
sealing compound to the 1/4 inch NPTF threads
of the gauge. Using the wrench, tighten 1 turn
beyond hand-tight or until a leak-proof seal has
been achieved.
CAUTION: Tightening the gauge by
grasping or putting a tool on the
plastic
permanent damage to the gauge.
