5. Install the vent temperature switch provided in the
hole in the "right-hand" draft deflector panel above
the J-box. The switch fits into the hole from beneath
and is secured from above by a pair of #6 screws. It
is surrounded by the vent switch shield. See Figure
14 and Figure 16.
6. Install the contactor assy provided in an available
space inside the J-box. See Figure 17 and Figure
18.
7. Identify and lay out the conduit-enclosed wiring
harnesses per the orientation drawing, Figure 14.
Units in this size range use the following
harnesses:
HARNESS 8: 120V incoming to the J-box
HARNESS 9: 24V from the J-box to the PV control
box
HARNESS 10: 24V from PV control box to the vent
temp switch
HARNESS 11: 120V from the PV control box to the
power vent
HARNESS 12: 24V from the J-box to the motor
safety switch
HARNESS 13: 120V from the J-box to the power
vent motor
Also follow the unit wiring diagram on page 29 as
a reference. The wiring diagram provided with the
unit takes priority over the on/off generic diagram in
the manual; if it shows the wiring for induced draft,
that is the correct reference drawing.
Incoming power connections must be no smaller
than AWG 10, stranded.
8. Inside the J-box, HARNESS 8 connects incoming
power to the 14-space terminal block per Figure 19.
9. Connect the end of HARNESS 9 with the wirenut to
the J-box, using the provided connector. See Figure
14, for recommended conduit opening.
10. Connect the HARNESS 9 wires to the J-box wiring
per Figure 20. The wire that connect to HARNESS
12 remain unconnected for the moment.
11. Connect the loose end of HARNESS 9 to the PV
control box, using the provided connector.
12. Connect the HARNESS 9 wires to the J-box wiring
per Figure 20.
13. Connect the loose end of HARNESS 9 to the PV
control box. See Figure 14 for recommended
conduit opening.
14. Connect the HARNESS 9 wires to the PV control
box wiring per Figure 20. The RED and BLU leads
to harness 10 remain unconnected for the moment.
15. Inside the J-box, connect the 2 spade connectors
(RED and BLU) of HARNESS 10 to the matching
leads from HARNESS 9 per Figure 21. Connect
the end of HARNESS 9 with flag connectors
through the hole in the vent switch shield. Use a
pair of wire clips to neatly secure the wiring along
the face of the unit.
16. Connect the end of HARNESS 11 with 2 spade
connectors and 1 stripped GRN wire, and connect
it to the PV control box, using the connector
provided. See Figure 14 for preferred location.
17. Connect the HARNESS 11 wires to the wiring
inside the PV control box per Figure 22.
18. Connect the loose end of HARNESS 11 to the fan
motor using the provided connector.
19. Connect the HARNESS 11 leads to the fan motor
per Figure 22.
20. Connect the end of HARNESS 12 with spade
connectors to the J-box, using the connector
provided. See the orientation drawing, Figure 14,
for preferred location.
21. Connect the HARNESS 9 leads to the same-
colored leads from HARNESS 9, inside the j-box,
per Figure 20.
22. Connect the loose end of HARNESS 12 to the fan
motor using the provided connector.
23. Connect the HARNESS 12 wires to S1 and S2 on
the motor, per Figure 22.
24. Connect the end of HARNESS 13 with spade
connectors to the J-box, using the connector
provided. See the orientation drawing, Figure 14,
for preferred location.
25. Connect the HARNESS 13 wires per Figure 24.
26. Connect the loose end of HARNESS 13 to the
power vent motor.
27. Connect the HARNESS 13 wires per Figure 24.
28. Connect the outlet adapter assembly to the discharge
collar of the power vent. For sizes 2100-3001, the
hardware is ¼" screw, nut, washer, and lockwasher,
12 each. For sizes 3500-4001, the hardware is
¼" screw, nut, washer, and lockwasher, 20 each.
Use silicone sealant between the discharge collar
and the outlet adapter.
