EST 450 PLUS
This machine is not intended for use by persons
f
(including children) with reduced physical, senso-
ry or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the machine by a
person responsible for their safety. Children should
be supervised to ensure that they do not play with
the machine.
Never work while people, especially children, or pets
f
are nearby.
Never operate the trimmer with missing or broken
f
guards or shields or without guards or shields in po-
sition.
Before use check the supply and extension cord
f
for signs of damage or aging. If the cord becomes
damaged during use, disconnect the cord from the
supply immediately. DO NOT TOUCH THE CORD BE-
FORE DISCONNECTING THE SUPPLY. Do not use the
trimmer if the cord is damaged or worn.
Before using the machine and after impact, check for
f
signs of wear or damage and repair if necessary.
Never operate the product when you are tired, ill or
f
under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medicine.
Always wear long heavy trousers, boots and gloves.
f
Do not wear loose clothing, jewelery, short trousers,
sandals and never work barefoot.
Wear safety eye protection and ear defenders
f
when operating the machine.
Keep firm footing and balance. Do not overreach.
f
Never work with this trimmer while people, especial-
f
ly children or pets are nearby.
The user is responsible for accidents or hazards oc-
f
curring to other people or their property.
Wait until the cutting head has completely stopped
f
before touching it. The head continues to rotate af-
ter the trimmer is switched off, the cutting system
can cause injury/damage.
Work only in daylight or in good artificial light.
f
Avoid operating the trimmer in bad weather condi-
f
tions especially when there is a risk of lightning.
Operating the trimmer in wet grass decreases the
f
efficiency of performance.
Switch off when transporting the trimmer to and
f
from the area to be worked on.
Switch on the trimmer with hands and feet well away
f
from the rotating line.
Caution - do not touch rotating cutting line.
f
Do not put hands or feet near the cutting system.
f
Never fit metal cutting elements to this trimmer.
f
Inspect and maintain the trimmer regularly.
f
Have the trimmer repaired only by an authorized cus-
f
tomer service agent.
Always ensure that the ventilation slots are kept
f
clear of debris.
Take care against injury from the blade fitted for cut-
f
ting the nylon line length. After feeding line always
return the trimmer to its horizontal operating posi-
tion before switching on.
Switch off and remove the plug from the socket:

Whenever you leave the machine unattended for

any period.
Before replacing the cutting line.

If the cable is tangled.

Before cleaning or working on the trimmer

After use, disconnect the machine from the mains

and check for damage.
Store the machine in a secure, dry place out of the

reach of children. Do not place other objects on top
of the machine.
Replace worn or damaged parts for safety.

Ensure replacement parts fitted are original.

Keep the handles dry and free of grease.
f
Always ensure that a device which has been switched
f
off cannot be restarted unintentionally.

objects. Remove all objects that may be blown away
by the unit, or that the thread may become caught
on.

VIBRATION SAFETY
This tool vibrates during use. Repeated or long-term
exposure to vibration may cause temporary or per-
manent physical injury, particularly to the hands,
arms and shoulders.
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ANY VIBRATION-RE-
LATED INJURY:
First be examined by a doctor and then have regu-
ƒ
lar medical check-ups to ensure medical problems
are not being caused or worsened from use. Preg-
nant women or people who have impaired blood
circulation to the hand, past hand injuries, nervous
system disorders, diabetes, or Raynaud's Disease
should not use this tool. If you feel any symptoms
related to vibration (such as tingling, numbness,
and white or blue fingers), seek medical advice as
soon as possible.
Use tools with the lowest vibration when there is
ƒ
a choice.
Take vibration-free breaks during each day of work.
ƒ
Grip tool as lightly as possible (while still keeping
ƒ
safe control of it). Let the tool do the work.
Maintain the device in accordance with the instruc-
ƒ
tions in the operating instructions.
Avoid working at low temperatures
ƒ
The vibration values specified in the technical data
represent the main uses of the device. The actual ex-
isting vibrations during use may deviate from these
as a result of the following factors:

Insufficient maintenance

CONNECTION TO THE POWER SUPPLY
Make sure the power supply information on the ma-
chine's rating plate are compatible with the power
supply you intend to connect it to.
This appliance is Class II and is designed for connec-
tion to a power supply matching that detailed on the
rating label and compatible with the plug fitted. If an
extension lead is required, use an approved and com-
patible lead rated for this appliance. Follow all the
instruction supplied with the extension lead.
