9. After exiting programming mode, hold down
Start/Stop (5) for approximately one second
to run the polymerisation program. The
program can also be stopped at any time by
holding down Start/Stop (5) for around 5
seconds.
Should you wish the program to end at step A2
and omit the second ramp and plateau, merely
allocate a time of 00.00 for steps A3 and A4 and
the same temperature for U2 as for U1.
The temperature may not exceed 110ºC at the
plateaux U1 and U2. If you try to program a
higher temperature, display (2) will show "A" at
step U1. If you accept this, the water in the tank
will be held at boiling point throughout the
plateau time.
Water may boil at slightly above or below 100
ºC, depending on altitude above sea level, water
composition and atmospheric pressure. This
means that if the boiling point programmed into
the unit is 100 ºC the polymerisation process
may not proceed to the next step because the
set temperature may never be reached.
Likewise, the polymeriser may go on to the next
step when the water has not boiled properly.
This problem can be solved by selecting "A" as
the set temperature. The polymeriser will then
automatically detect when the water boils, and
hold it at that temperature throughout the step in
question.
Another possibility is to detect the exact boiling
point in a laboratory. The polymeriser is
programmed
with
parameters: A0 = 00.00, A1 = 00.00, U1 = 110
ºC. The temperature of the water in the tank will
rise slowly to a level at which it holds steady.
This is the laboratory boiling point, and this
temperature should be programmed whenever
you wish to polymerise at boiling point.
To prevent excessive moisture due to steam
given
off by the
TALLERES MESTRAITUA, S.L recommends
you do not program the unit for more than 96 ºC.
OPERATION
• Place the muffle tray in the bottom of the
tank.
• Fill the tank with water up around 10 cm
below the rim. There should always be at
least 20 cm of water in the tank, to prevent
damage to the heating element.
• Switch on main switch D. Some of the
controls on the panel will flash, indicating that
the polymeriser is ready for operation.
• Place the muffles on the muffle tray, using
long, sturdy gauntlets to protect against
splashes, a face-mask and muffle tongs.

• Program
the
polymeriser
instructions above. Once programming is
completed, hold down Start/Stop for 5
seconds. The polymeriser will start up and
lamp (6) will come on to indicate that the
program is running as required. Lamp (3)
comes on whenever the heating element is
working.
• In the normal course of the program the unit
can be stopped at any time by holding down
Start/Stop (M/P) (5) for approximately 5
seconds. You can also enter programming
mode and modify the parameters of the
program which is running.
• If there is a power cut, the polymeriser retains
in its memory the parameters of the step
ongoing, and when power is restored the
program will continue from the point at which
it stopped.
If the main switch (D) is turned off before the
program is completed, the unit takes this as a
power cut and will therefore use maximum
power when it is re-connected to attempt to
retrieve
the
water
disconnection.
Once the polymerisation program is completed,

automatically and emits a warning buzz. This
buzz can be cancelled by pressing W/T (7).
Lamp (4) on the control panel also lights up.
When removing the muffles, open the cover
carefully, as steam pouring out from the tank
could cause burns. Use long gauntlets and a
face-mask, and remove muffles using muffle
tongs. Close over the cover.
Disconnect the unit via main switch D. The fan
remains on until switch D is disconnected to
prevent the control module from overheating.
EXAMPLE OF PROGRAMMING
Assume
that
the
programmed for the following sequence of
steps:
Waiting time: zero
1.
1st ramp time: the water in the tank should
2.
reach boiling point within 1 hour.
1st plateau time: the water in the tank
3.
should remain on the boil for 5 minutes.
After this time the unit will buzz.
2nd ramp time: the water in the tank should
4.
then drop to 80 ºC in 1 hour.
2nd plateau time: the water should remain at
5.
80 ºC for 30 minutes, after which the
polymerisation program is completed and
the unit buzzes.
