1. GENERAL :
The BALI / BORNEO/SUMATRA / SUMBA sandblasting hoods are protective insulating/breathing devices with forced compressed air supply at a
constant flow rate especially designed for abrasive blasting operations.
They consist of a rigid hood completely protecting the head and neck and a jacket made of a coated cloth resistant to abrasion covering the
shoulders and chest.
The jacket is used to support the breathing tube and it is held by a polyamide belt around the waist. This polyamide belt firmly attaches the plate
which is used to support the air flow control cock.
The BALI / SUMATRA hoods are equipped with a so-called 'panoramic' window with an unbreakable polycarbonate safety screen held firmly in a
tight rubber joint. The polycarbonate screen and rubber assembly is protected against abrasive blasts by PVC flexible wear films.
The BORNEO / SUMBA hoods are equipped with a square window and a wear screen, a polymethacrylate safety screen and a fine protective
grille.
The headband/lining assembly is adjustable according to the wearer's head size and form. The assembly is held on the wearer's head by very
comfortable foams which are fastened by snaps and Velcro tapes, and allow very quick removal / replacement so they may be cleaned in a
washing machine at an average washing temperature.
A neckband made of an elastic material protects the inside of the helmet from dust by maintaining it under a slightly positive pressure.
The BORNEO / SUMATRA / SUMBA hoods are in addition covered at the outside of the shell by a polyurethane coating which significantly
increases soundproofing.
The jumpers are held firmly on the hoods by a Velcro tape and tightly by a rubber belt which perfectly flattens against them.
These 2 versions are used in combination with an air hose ( S 917 (10 meter length) or the S 918 tube (20 meter length) and eventually
extension piece ( S947 - 10 meter length or S949- 20 meter length ).
The use of a feeder pipe in air of helmets other one than that supplied by ACF must be at least approved under IN139
Any change made on the product will cancel its conformity to the EC certificate.
THESE HELMETS ARE USED IN COMBINATION WITH AN AUDITORY PROTECTION WHICH IS SUPPLIED BY US AND IS INCLUDED IN
THIS PACKAGE.

THE SYSTEM HAS THE FOLLOWING MARKING : EC 1437
3. SCOPE
The BALI /BORNEO hoods were developed exclusively for protection during abrasive blasting operations :
These hoods are not designed to be used for work in an environment with :
- Strong heat radiation ;
- An open fire ;
- A danger of explosion on the site ;
- An oxygen content less than 17 % ;
- Important concentrations of hazardous materials, toxic products, inflammable and/or explosive products;
- A temperature less than 4 degrees centigrade (or – 10° C provided the water content in the compressed air supply can be held less than 50
3
mg/m
at atmospheric pressure) ;
- A temperature greater than + 50° C.
These hoods are designed to operate pressurized by a compressed air supply which under no circumstances must be less than 6.5 bars.
Similarly, this pressure will be limited to 8 bars.
In addition, the compressed air feed tube will have a maximum length of 50 meters.
In the case of intensive physical work, the air flow in the hood may prove to be insufficient ( formation of mist/moisture, etc. ). For a minimum
compressed air supply, that is, at 6.5 bars and with the control cock fully screwed tight, you can increase the breathable air flow by loosening the
control cock at the belt.
WARNING : THESE HOODS AREN'T INCLUDED UNDER THE NF EN 397 STANDARD CONCERNING SAFETY HELMETS LIABLE TO
RESIST FALLING OBJECT SHOCKS.
AMONG OTHERS, THESE HOODS MUST BE USED BY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL SPECIALLY TRAINED AND PERFECTLY
KNOWLEDGABLE ABOUT THE RISKS OF PERFORMING WORK WITH ABRASIVE BLASTINGS.
IT IS ALSO PROHIBITED TO SUPPLY OXYGEN OR OXYGEN ENRICHED AIR TO THESE HOODS.
ON THE OTHER HAND, AS DEFINED IN THE EN 14594 STANDARD, THESE DEVICES MUST BE FED WITH BREATHABLE QUALITY AIR
ACCORDING TO EN 12021.
4. PREPARATION
Before usage, start running the compressor and make sure the compressor outlet pressure is at least 6.5 bars.
