To close the shade, release the
locking knob to the ON position.
This releases the lock and will allow
gravity to slowly close the umbrella.
If the canopy is very taut, some force
may be required on new canopies to
release this lock.
Before closing the umbrella com-
pletely, pull out the fabric from
between the struts and fold it
around the umbrella so it cannot
be damaged from getting caught
between the struts.

CLOSING THE UMBRELLA
Once the lock is released the
umbrella slides down smoothly.
To secure the umbrella, lower the
shade until the bolt at the lower hub
clicks into the lock. Make sure that
all fabric and folds are on the out-
side of the struts so that the fabric
does not become pinched. If the
fabric is pinched the umbrella will
not close properly. Fabric that
is caught in between struts can
become damaged.
For additionalsecurity a small pad-
lock can be used to lock the umbrel-
la when not in use.
Pull the handle down completely or
carefully push the struts to the pole
to close the umbrella.
Secure the cover with the binding
belt to keep from moving around
in the wind. Movement in the
canopy cover can chafe and can
wear itself through at the frame.
Pull the protective bag over the
umbrella. The optional push-rod
can be used to assist in installing.
