2. New Windows 98 / ME Installation
The new installation corresponds to the usual installation on the motherboard.
8.2. Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
1. Installing in an Existing NT 4.0 System
- Open the control panel and double-click on "SCSI Controller".
- Click on "Driver" and "Add", then on "floppy disk".
- Insert RAID driver disk into your floppy drive and select "A:\", confirm with "OK".
- Select "Silicon Image Sil 3112 SATA Raid Controller"; you will again be
asked to indicate the path to the driver, so enter "A:\NT".
- After installation, you will be asked to reboot your computer; confirm with "OK".
- After rebooting driver installation is finished and all drives connected to
the RAID controller are available for use.
- Now you can partition and format the disk array. Please follow the
instructions of the manufacturer of your operating system
You can verify the installation by opening the device manager under
"SCSI Controller", where the entry "Silicon Image Sil 3112 SATARaid
Controller" should be found. If this is not the case, go to the "RAID
Troubleshooting" section of this manual.
Caution: If you wish to connect your current bootable Windows NT system
(connected to the onboard controller) as part of a bootable mirror array to
your DC-150 RAID controller, you first have to install Windows NT driver
software before connecting the hard disk to your DC-150 RAID!
2. New NT 4.0 Installation
- Boot from Windows NT 4.0 CD.
- While booting (monochrome display) the message "Setup is inspecting
your hardware configuration" appears; press <F6> now.
- After hardware inspection you will have the possibility of adding SCSI
controllers. Therefore, press "Z" and then "Others".
- Insert RAID driver disk into floppy drive and hit return.
- Select "Silicon Image Sil 3112 SATARaid Controller".
- Finish Windows NT 4.0 installation as usual.
