OBD2 Data Relay Instructions

Device Overview
Pairing
Press to pair the device with a VIRB
button
Turns on solid green while the device is active and
receiving power.
Flashes every few seconds while the device is in power
saving mode.
OBD
Flashes red when the device sends data to or receives
data from the vehicle.
HOST
Flashes yellow when the device sends data to or
receives data from a paired VIRB camera.
Turns on solid blue while the device is connected to
your VIRB camera.
Flashes slowly while the device is searching for a VIRB
camera.
Flashes rapidly while the device is in pairing mode.
Installing the OBD2 Data Relay in Your Vehicle
Use of your vehicle's diagnostic link connector (DLC) may void
your vehicle warranty. See your vehicle warranty or contact your
vehicle manufacturer for more information.

Turn the vehicle off.

Plug the device into the diagnostic link connector (DLC) in
your vehicle.
The DLC is usually located on the driver's side of the vehicle
under the dash. For more information about the location of
the DLC, see your vehicle owner's manual.

Turn the vehicle ignition switch to the on position.

TIP: If the LED indicators do not turn on, verify the vehicle
fuses are good. See your vehicle owner's manual for more
information.
Pairing the OBD2 Data Relay with Your VIRB Camera
Before you can record vehicle data from the OBD2 Data Relay,
you must pair it with a compatible Garmin
OBD2 Data Relay is compatible with VIRB models that include
Bluetooth
wireless technology.

Install the device, and turn the vehicle ignition switch to the
on position.

On the OBD2 Data Relay, press the pairing button.

On the VIRB camera, hold MENU.

Select Bluetooth > Status to turn on Bluetooth wireless
technology.

Select Add New.

Select the OBD2 Data Relay from the list of devices.
After pairing is complete, turns solid blue on the OBD2 Data
Relay. On the VIRB camera, the device status changes to
Connected, and
appears in the sensor status screen.
After the device and camera are paired, they connect
automatically when they are turned on, within 10 m (30 ft.) of
each other, and Bluetooth wireless technology is enabled on the
VIRB camera. The devices remain paired if you move the OBD2
Data Relay to another vehicle.
Power Saving Mode
The OBD2 Data Relay turns on and off with the vehicle
automatically. When you turn off your vehicle, the device enters
power saving mode, which will not drain the vehicle battery. The
device cannot connect to your VIRB camera while in power
saving mode.
Automotive G-Metrix
While paired with the OBD2 Data Relay, your VIRB camera
records real-time automotive G-Metrix data with the video. You
can add G-Metrix overlays to your video using the VIRB Edit
software (garmin.com/virbedit) or the VIRB Mobile app for
smartphones. Specific data availability is dependent on vehicle
manufacturer, model, and year. Some vehicles may not report
all data.

Removing the OBD2 Data Relay from Your Vehicle

Turn off the vehicle.

Pull the OBD2 Data Relay out of the DLC port.
NOTE: The device fits tightly in the port.
Supported Vehicles
The device supports vehicles using OBD-II, EOBD, JOBD, or
any other international variation of OBD-II. This includes most
recent vehicle models worldwide, all models sold in the United
States since 1996, and all models sold in the European Union
since 2003. Specific vehicle support is dependent on the vehicle
manufacturer, model, and year. Go to
