List of parts to be checked
Check, that...
rails/legs are not bent, crooked, twisted, dented, cracked,

corroded or rotten.
rails/legs around the fixation points for other parts are in
2
good condition.
fastenings (rivets, screws, bolts) are not missing,
3
loose or corroded.
rungs/steps are not missing, loose, heavily worn,
4
corroded or damaged.
hinges between front and back are not damaged,
5
loose or corroded.
the locking mechanism remains in horizontal position,
6 rear rails and corner reinforcements are not missing, bent,
corroded or damaged.
rung hooks are not missing, damaged, loose or corroded and can
7
be properly hooked to the rungs.
guide brackets are not missing, damaged, loose or corroded and
8
can be properly hooked to the rails.
legs/caps are not missing, loose, heavily worn,
9
corroded or damaged.
the entire stepladder is free from soiling
10
(e.g. dirt, paint, oil, grease or snow).
the locking catches (if present) are not damaged or corroded and
11
that they work properly.
no parts or fastenings of the platform (if present) are missing and
12
that the platform is not damaged or corroded.
13 the warnings are legible for all users.
If one of the inspections listed above does not bring forward a satisfactory
result, the stepladder should NOT be used. Repairs and service work on the
stepladder must be performed by a skilled person* following the manufac-
turer's instructions. In the case of repair or replacement of parts, e.g. legs,
please contact the manufacturer or dealer, if necessary. Stepladders must be
stored in compliance with the manufacturer's instructions.
A skilled person is someone who has the knowledge required to perform repair or maintenance work, e.g. by me-
