Information for use
sera filter and feed pump FP 350/750/1000/1500/2000
Please read these instructions carefully and keep for future use. When forwarding this unit to third parties, this informa-
tion for use is also to be handed over.
The sera filter and feed pumps FP convince with their compact
and robust construction as well as low energy consumption and
their adjustability. The sera filter and feed pumps FP are being
offered in 7 performance variants. The correct performance
level is available for nano aquariums up to marine tanks.
Due to their plain design, the sera filter and feed pumps FP 350
– 2000 can be placed unobtrusively in an aquarium. Their compact
shape also allows placing them in internal filters. The high water
agitation performance ensures constant conditions in an aquarium
and thus contributes to the stabilization of the biological system.
SAFETY PRECAUTION
All electrical units located in the water must be disconnected from
the mains/power supply before conducting work at the aquarium!
Application and application range
The sera filter and feed pumps FP are particularly well suited
as operational pumps of internal filters in aquariums and as a
feed pump for aquatic systems. All versions with ceramic shaft,
beginning with FP 350, are suited for operation in marine water.

Assembly instruction
Usage as a filter pump:
Connecting the hose
Depending on the version, different hoses (please see "Techni-
cal data") can be connected via the hose connector (2.3). Push
the end of a hose over the connector. Before doing so, briefly
immerse the hose end in hot water in case of hard or stiff hoses.
Now possibly secure the hose with a hose clamp.
The sera filter and feed pumps FP can also be placed in an
internal filter such as the sera bioactive IF 400 + UV.
Location
The pump should be placed directly on the bottom of an aquar-
ium or at the aquarium glass, and be operated entirely sub-
merged. Make sure the pump does not draw in air.
Operation
Make sure there is no direct or indirect conducting contact to
persons before switching on the pump.
The pump begins to run upon plugging in the plug. The pump
can be adjusted to the desired performance level by turning the
rotary adjustment cap at the intake grid. The water flow through
the pump will be reduced when turning the cap in "–" direction.
The water flow will rise up to the maximum feed performance
when turning the cap in "+" direction.
The pump does not have an additional On/Off switch. The pump
is designed for permanent operation but must not run dry, as
the motor block is cooled by water and the ceramic bearings
are lubricated by water. Turn the pump off again and check
whether nothing is clogged if no water is delivered after a few
seconds. Switch the pump back on only afterwards.
Cleaning
All parts can be cleaned with a brush and a neutral detergent. Make
sure no detergent gets into the aquarium. Carefully rinse all cleaned
parts with clean tap water before reassembling the pump and put-
ting it back in operation in the aquarium. You can immerse the
running unit (2.4) and the motor block (2.1) in a descaler solution
for stainless steel parts if the pump is severely lime encrusted.
Please adhere to the information for use of the descaler solution.
Maintenance
The mechanical components of the sera filter and feed pumps
FP can be largely dismantled and replaced. The motor block
(2.1) is embedded in plastic material for electric isolation and
therefore cannot be repaired.
Replacing the running unit (2.4):
Take the pump intake grid (2.7) off the motor block (2.1). Turn
the pump chamber cover (2.6) to the left by approximately 90°.
Pull the pump chamber cover straightly out of the motor block,
making sure the shaft (2.4.3) cannot break. In case the shaft
remains stuck in the motor block, pull it out first before pulling
out the magnetic impeller (2.4.2). Reassembly takes place in
reverse order. Caution! When inserting the rotor into the motor
block it can suddenly rotate and be drawn in.
