Stereo RF Modulator
Item-No. 94 23 53
Intended use
The stereo RF modulator is used to convert and modulate AV signals in aerial lines.
This product must only be supplied with power by the power pack included here.
The power transformer is only suitable for use with normal household mains sockets with 230 V~/50 Hz alter-
nating voltage.
The device may only be used indoors; outdoor use is not permitted. Contact with moisture, for example in
bathrooms, must be avoided.
Any other use than that described above, could lead to damage to this product and involves the risk of short
circuits, fire, electric shock, etc.
No part of the product should be altered or modified, and the housing must not be opened.
Always observe the safety instructions.
This product complies with the national and European legal requirements.
Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safe-
ty instructions! We do not assume liability for any resulting damage.
Nor do we assume liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by improp-
er use or failure to observe the safety instructions. The warranty will be void in such cas-
es.
The exclamation mark icon indicates important notices in the operating instructions.
The arrow symbol indicates special information and advice on operating the device.
• For safety and approval (CE) reasons, unauthorised conversion and/or modifications to the product are not
permitted.
• The enclosed power transformer is constructed according to protection class II.
• Only connect the power unit to a normal wall socket (230 V~ / 50 Hz) of the public grid. The modulator itself
may only be supplied with energy through the enclosed power supply unit.
• In order to disconnect the unit from the power system completely the power supply must be disconnected
from the power socket.
• Never replace a damaged power cable. If a connecting cable is damaged, the power unit is unusable and
must be disposed of. Do not repair.
• Devices, operated by the mains voltage, must be kept out of the reach of children. For this reason, be par-
ticularly careful when using the device in the presence of children. They may try to stick objects into the
device, through openings in the housing. There is danger of a life-threatening electric shock.
• Check the device occasionally for damage. Do not touch the power pack, the modulator or the connection
cable if they show visible damage. First, isolate the corresponding mains socket (e.g. via the respective cir-
cuit-breaker) and afterwards carefully disconnect the mains unit from the socket. Do not use the product
afterwards, instead take it to a specialist workshop.
• Never position containers containing liquids, such as glasses, buckets, vases or plants, in the direct vicini-
ty of the product. Liquids may seep into the casing and thus impair the electrical safety of the device.
Furthermore, there is a significant risk of fire or of a lethal electric shock! In such an event, isolate the mains
socket, to which the product is connected (e.g. switch off the automatic fuse), and unplug the power trans-
former from the mains socket. Afterwards, the product can no longer be used; take it to a specialist work-
shop.
• Do not expose the device to high temperatures, dripping or sprayed water, strong vibrations or heavy
mechanical stress.
• Do not place naked flames, such as burning candles, on or close to the device.
• If you have doubts about how the equipment should be operated or how to safely connect it, consult a
trained technician.
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. It may become a dangerous plaything for children.
• Never operate the device unattended.
• Do not use the product in a tropical climate, only in a temperate climate.
• Comply with the safety and operating instructions of any other devices that are connected to the modulator
as well as the further safety instructions in the individual chapters in these instructions.
• If in doubt about how to connect the device correctly, or should any questions arise that are not answered
in these operating instructions, please contact our technical advisory service or another specialist.
Connection
The device is only suitable low-voltage video and audio signals. Only connect devices
with such connections to the AV input of the modulator.
The aerial connector of the modulator may only be connected to aerial lines commonly
used in households.
If in doubt, consult an expert.
If these instructions are not observed, the modulator or connected appliances could be
damaged.

Connection of the AV input
• Plug the SCART transmitter into the SCART socket of the AV source (DVD player, video recorder, SAT
receiver etc.).
• Connect the cinch connector of the enclosed Scart transmitter to the connections of the modulator.
Yellow plug > yellow connector
Red plug > red connector
White plug > white connector
Should your AV device not have a Scart socket, you can acquire suitable connections in a spe-
cialist store.
Connecting the aerial lines
• Connect the "RF IN" connector with your available aerial line/aerial socket.
• Connect the "TO TV" connector to the aerial input of your AV devices (e.g. TV set).
Use the enclosed aerial lines when required.
Make sure the cable cores of the aerial lines are not bent.
Only screw the cap nuts of the connector plugs finger-tight.
Connecting the Transformer
Only the enclosed plug-in power unit may be used for the mains connection.
Only a 230~V/50Hz mains socket for the public supply grid may be used as the source of
power for the plug-in power unit. Never try to operate the device with any other voltage.
Make sure in making the connection that the connecting cable is not pinched or damaged
by sharp edges.
The mains socket to which the transformer is connected must be easily accessible, so the
device can be quickly isolated from the mains voltage in the event of a fault.
• Connect the low voltage plug of the mains adapter to the "DC IN" connector on the modulator.
• Plug the power adaptor into the wall socket.
First use
No devices with strong electric fields such as e.g. mobile phones, radio devices, electric
engines etc. must be in the proximity of the modulator.
The product can also be influenced by interferences (ìradiationî) through tuners, TV sets
etc. Make sure the system is as far as possible from such devices.
Switching the modulator on/off
• The modulator is switched on or off by means of the sliding switch next to the "DC IN" socket.
Position "ON" > device is switched on
Position "OFF" > device is switched off
Adjusting the TV system
The modulator can be set to the TV system for EU mode or for Italy mode.
• Press the "MODE" button to switch between EU or Italy mode.
• The abbreviation "Eu" or "It" will appear on the display.
Programming the operating mode
Here, you can set the frequency of the audio subcarrier and the AV signal intensity, as well as activate a test
picture generator.
The factory default settings are made in such a manner that immediate operation is possible
without having to change the programming. Thus, you normally can skip this point during the ini-
tial installation.
• Press the "UP" and "DOWN" button simultaneously to switch to the programming mode.
• The display shows the current programming in the middle and right display segment.
• Press the "DOWN" key to select the parameter that you wish to change.
• Press the "UP" button to change the parameter.
• After programming press the "MODE" button to save the programming and to exit.
