YOU MUST INSTALL THE U-HANDLE WHEN USING BRUSH OR CLEARING BLADES. A METAL
SHIELD IS REQUIRED FOR ALL BLADE USE. You must read and understand the Operator's Manual and
Trimmer/Brushcutter Safety Manual before installing or using this kit. Failure to follow all instructions, or operation
without specified shield, handle, and harness, can result in serious personal injury. The type of blade used MUST be
matched to the type and size of material cut. An improper or dull blade can cause serious personal injury. Blades
MUST be sharp. Dull blades increase the chance of kickout and injury to yourself and bystanders.
For Models:
INSTALL METAL SHIELD
Tools Required: 8mm x 10mm Open End Wrench, Screwdriver.
Parts Required: Metal Shield, Bracket, 3 - 5mm x 15mm screws
w/captivated flat and lockwasher (metal shield to gear housing),
2 - 5mm x 8mm screws, 4 - 5mm nuts, 4 - 5mm lockwashers (bracket to
shield and bracket to gear housing).

If necessary, remove nylon line head and plastic shield.
2.
Loosely attach bracket (A) to shield (B) and attach to bottom of
gear housing (C) with screws and nuts provided. Tighten all
attaching hardware.
Install Blade
Tools Required: Locking Tool, scrench.
Parts Required: 1 - 20mm Upper Plate, Grass Blade (69600120330),
Brush Blade (69500120330) or Tri-Cut Blade w/Glide Cup (99944200030),
1 - Lower Fixing Plate, 1 - 10mm L.H. Nut, 1 - 2x22mm Split Pin.

Install upper plate (D) on splined shaft. Blade installation requires
use of upper Plate (D) with 20mm pilot. Upper plate with 37mm
pilot should be retained for use with nylon line head.
4.
Place Blade (E) over upper plate pilot, install the lower Plate (F)
and 10mm LH nut (G). Tri-Cut Blade (H) is installed with Glide
Cup (J).
5.
Insert Locking Tool (K) through hole in upper plate and notch in
gear housing to prevent splined shaft from turning. Tighten nut
and secure with Split Pin (L).

  • Page 2 Loosen nut (C) and remove throttle linkage from carburetor bracket. Remove inner throttle linkage from carburetor swivel (D). (SRM-260/261 Series Only) 5A. Loosen bolt (E) and pull drive shaft assembly from clutch case. (SRM-311/311S Only) 5B. Loosen the two (2) bolts (F) at engine drive shaft clamps, and remove center drive shaft location bolt (G) and pull drive shaft assembly from clutch case.

  • Page 6 Afloje tuerca (C) y retire la ménsula para el cable del acelerador. Retire el cable del estrangulador interno del balancín del carburador (D). (SRM-260/261 series solamente) 5A. Afloje los (1) perno (E) y extraiga el conjunto del eje motriz de la caja del embrague.
  • Page 7 Revise que el estrangulador tenga libertad del movimiento y que los extremos de estrangulador abierto/ marcha baja en vacío estén ajustados de manera apropiada. Consulte con su distribuidor ECHO el procedimiento de ajuste correcto. 16. Conecte el cable de parada de ignición (A) y (B).

  • Page 10 Débrancher les deux fils d’allumage (A) et (B). Desserrer l’écrou (C) et retirer la commande des gaz du support. Retirer la commande intérieure de l’actionneur du carburateur (D). (SRM-260/260S Series Seulement) 5A. Desserrer le boulon (G) et sortir l’arbre moteur du carter d’embrayage.
  • Page 11 Le câble de commande des gaz doit être tendu au moyen du dispositif de réglage (F). Consulter le concessionnaire ECHO pour la procédure de réglage correcte. Brancher les fils d’allumage (A) et (B).
