4.0 Maintenance
4.1 General
The appliance must be subjected to maintenance at least once a year, more often if necessary. If
applicable, ask a qualified installer for maintenance advice. When carrying out maintenance, the ap-
pliance must have been shut down for an extended period. Make sure that you comply with all
safety rules.

Cleaning the heat exchanger
Every year, after the main heating season has passed, the combustion chamber and the pipe array
must be inspected for corrosion and leaks and cleaned if necessary. Remove the cover plate to
gain access for cleaning. The flue gas plenum cover or combustion chamber cover must be re-
moved from the pipe array. Clean the pipes in the array with a brush. Note: In the case of gas-
fired appliance, remove the retarders that are fitted and reinstall them after cleaning. A leak-free
seal must be created; do not use old gasket or sealing material. This must be replaced. Maintain
the burner in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. After removing the oil/gas burner,
the combustion chamber can be cleaned. Remove any soot particles using a vacuum cleaner.
4.3 Drive [8].
Work may only be performed on the drive if appropriate precautionary measures have been
taken, such as disconnecting the appliance from the power supply. The fan automatically post-ven-
tilates. After the post-ventilation time has ended, the appliance may be disconnected from the
power supply. Check that the safety thermostat is functioning correctly. If the V-belts are worn,
rather than using a mixture of old and new V-belts, you should renew the complete set of V-belts
at the same time and order them from one single supplier (check that the type numbers are the
same on the V-belts)! Check whether the fan is dirty and clean it if required. Check the belt ten-
sion after 20 to 40 hours of operation. Adjust the tension regularly during the first year of opera-
tion!
4.4 Air filter [9].
Filters on the suction side should be cleaned regularly, as often as once a week if necessary. If the
filters are very dirty, they should be replaced by filter fabric of the same quality and designation. If
an air filter is fitted, a dirty filter sensor should always be fitted. This pressure switch will switch
off the burner when the filter is dirty. The dirty filter sensor has a mechanical reset. Setting: +60
Pa resistance with a clean filter.
