2 Safety Notes
This unit corresponds to the EU directive for electro-
magnetic compatibility 89/336/EEC.
The unit is suitable for indoor use only.
Protect the unit against humidity and heat (permis-
sible operating temperature range 0-40 °C).
If the unit is used for purposes other than originally
intended, if it is not connected properly, if it is operat-
ed in the wrong way or not repaired by authorized
skilled personnel, no liability can be taken over for
possible damage.
Only use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning, by no means
chemicals or water.
If the unit is to be put out of operation definitively,
bring it to a local recycling plant for disposal.
3 Applications
The multi effect unit GME-5 can be used to generate
various sound effects for electric guitars. The five ef-
fects of the unit (compressor, overdrive, distortion, digi-
tal chorus, and digital delay) can be added with four
foot switches and are displayed via four LEDs. Ad-
ditionally, the unit has outputs for the connection of
headphones and a guitar tuner.
4 Connecting the Unit
1) Connect the electric guitar to the input jack INPUT
(21).
2) Connect the guitar amplifier to the output jack
OUTPUT (20).
3) For tuning the electric guitar, a guitar tuner can be
connected to the TUNER jack (22).
4) If the output signal is to be monitored via head-
phones (impedance at least 32 Ω), connect the
headphones to the PHONES jack (19).
CAUTION: Do not adjust the headphones to a high
volume. Permanent high volumes may damage a
person´s hearing! The human ear gets accustomed
to high volumes which do not seem to be that high
after some time. Therefore, do not further increase
a high volume after getting used to it.
5) For the power supply connect an electronically
regulated power supply unit, e. g. MONACOR
PS-12CCD or PS-128A, to the DC 9 V jack (18).
The negative pole must be at the center pin. For the
connection a low voltage plug with the dimensions
5.5/2.1 mm (inside/outside diameter) is required.
The operating voltage of the unit is 9 V , the power
consumption is 150 mA.
5 Operation
The multi effect unit is ready for operation after con-
necting the operating voltage. When taking it into oper-
ation, one or several effect circuits may already be
activated which is shown by lighting of the LED above
the corresponding foot switch.
For adjusting an effect, all other effects should be
switched off by operating the corresponding foot switch-
es. After this adjustment the effects can be combined as
desired.
