INSTALLATION AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS MODEL QSIM, QSIMX (Please save for future reference.)
INTRODUCTION
Your Rainfresh TWIST Fridge Water Filter uses a premium fi ltering process, providing cleaner,
safer, better tasting drinking water and ice cubes from your water-dispensing fridge.
It reduces lead, VOC (volatile organic compounds), cysts, chlorine, bad tastes and odours
(see performance data sheet for details)*. The system is designed for installation on the water
line going into the fridge.
*Contaminants reduced by these cartridges are not necessarily in your water.
The "Twist ON/Twist OFF" design makes cartridge replacement quick and easy, using no tools
and without having to shut off the water.
The cartridge should be replaced after
• 350 gal (1324 L) or 6 months for model QSIM
• 250 gal ( 946 L) or 4 months for model QSIMX
The system features a unique electronic monitor (QSIM only) that tracks both the gallons used
and time in service and triggers a blinking orange LED when either of these limits is reached
advising you to replace the cartridge.
**Note: Cartridge life is directly dependent on water conditions and volume of water filtered.
Excessive sediment may cause more frequent replacement.

INSTALLATION NOTES AND CAUTIONS
1. Installation of this unit may involve some water spillage. Keep an ample supply of paper towels or an absorbent cloth handy.
2. This system is intended for use with cold water only. DO NOT INSTALL ON HOT WATER.
3. Protect fi lter from direct sunlight. Not intended for outdoor use.
4. Protect unit from freezing.
5. Not intended for installation in multi-storey buildings.
6. Installation must comply with local plumbing codes.
TOOLS REQUIRED FOR INSTALLATION
Phillips screwdriver, pencil, tape measure, tube cutter & sandpaper (for copper tubing only), utility knife (for plastic tubing only).
INSTALLATION
Caution: To avoid excess stress on the unit, we recommend that you have at least 8 feet of coiled 1/4" tubing (water supply) in case the fridge has to
be moved.
Choose a location that is easily accesible for cartridge replacement preferably without having to move the fridge. Depending on where the water
supply valve is located, the filter can be mounted in the basement, wall or cabinet & not necessarily behind the fridge.
Before mounting the unit, install the monitor battery (QSIM only). Remove head cover insert (2713) by gently pulling away the insert from the head.
Unwrap coin battery (2545) and insert into battery slot between contacts with + side out. Reattach the head cover insert (2713).
1. Shut off the water supply to the fridge. To relieve the water pressure in the line, open the water dispenser
in the fridge until water stops flowing.
2. Turn off the icemaker in the fridge
3. Mount the unit on a stud in the wall or on a solid surface at the chosen location using the 2 mounting screws.
Make sure that the unit is level
4. Cut the 1/4" water tubing at a location close to unit, leaving at least 8 feet of tubing coiled up (10" dia) between
the outlet of the system and the fridge. See fig 1. Make sure the cut is straight without any burrs, flat spots
or sharp edges.
5. Insert the tubing (Fig. 3) from the water supply valve into the grey INLET ACCULINK fitting located on top back of the unit (arrow pointing
towards the fitting). If using copper pipe, carefully bend the tube so that it enters the fitting vertically (Fig. 2) or else it can stress the fitting
causing a leak.
6. Now insert the tubing connected to the fridge to the white OUTLET ACCULINK fitting (Fig. 3) located at the top front of the unit
(arrow pointing away from fitting) , again making sure that the tube enters the fitting vertically (Fig. 2).
7. Reconnect the QLV cartridge by turning it to the right until it stops turning and the lock marks on the cartridge and head line up (lock position).
The cartridge is now locked in place.
8. Turn on the water supply valve slowly and check for leaks.
9. Open the fridge water dispenser and discard 7-8 L of water to flush carbon fines.
10. Now turn ON the icemaker in your fridge.

CONNECTING TO THE ACCULINK FITTING

To ensure an optimal seal, tubing should be cut straight. An angled cut or distortion of the tubing
will not provide an efficient seal and may cause a leak.

To install 1/4" tube into the ACCULINK fitting, mark it 5/8" from the end and push it firmly 5/8"
tube stop
through the collet, past the "O" ring until it seats on the tube stop.
To remove, push in the collet with two fingers on two sides of the tube and pull out the tube.
