LINCOLN WAYSIDE LUBRICATOR

Figure 16E.
6. Slide the sensor and carrier plate, item #93A, so that the
carrier plate is against the web of the rail as shown in ¿ gure
16A.
7. Tighten the hook bolt nut to a torque of 75-80 ft.-lbs. (See
¿ gure 16B).
8. Check that the sensor and carrier plate, item #93A, are
against the web of the rail. Tighten the four 5/16-24 allen
head cap screws, item #84, to a torque of 12-15 ft.-lbs.
(See ¿ gure 16C).
9. Make sure that there is at least 4" clearance below the
bottom edge of the sensor angle assembly, item #90, to
allow for rail and tie movement under a train load. Failure
to have enough clearance below the sensor may cause
the sensor to be driven up into the path of the train wheels,
damaging or destroying the sensor assembly.
10. Route the cable and sheath from the sensor assembly
back to the reservoir/controller by passing the cable under
the rails between ties and back to the cabinet. Feed the
sheathed cable through the cord grip connector on the side
of the cabinet. Pull enough of the cable into the cabinet to
connect with the plug on the controller. Tighten the cord
grip. (See ¿ gure 17).

watertight connector.

11. Connect the sensor plug to the mating sensor plug on the
controller with no marking for Sensor A. (Sensor B will be
marked with a tag.)
12. Remove the two ¼ plastic plugs, item #99, from the sensor
cover, item #93, to expose an indicator light and adjust-
ment screw, see ¿ gure 16D.
13. Apply power to the controller. (For DC powered systems,
make sure the jumper wire, item #26 (Illustration 2), is
connected between the two batteries. For AC powered
systems make sure the controller power leads are con-
nected to the DC power supply, and the power supply is
connected to the AC mains.) Turn on the "ON/OFF" switch
on the face of the controller. (See ¿ gure 20C). The Green
"Battery Power" indicator should light.
14. Use the small screw driver packaged with the sensor as-
sembly to make the following adjustment. Look inside the
opening of the sensor for a RED led light. If it is ON, turn
the adjustment screw in the other opening in the sensor
cover, counterclockwise (CCW) until it turns OFF. Continue
to rotate the screw CCW for ½ turn. If the RED led light
is OFF, initially, turn the adjustment screw clockwise (CW)
until the led turns ON. Then turn the adjustment screw
CCW until the led turns OFF, and continue to turn CCW for
½ turn. (See Figure 16E).
15. Replace the plastic plugs, item #99, and tighten snugly.
16. Test the sensor assembly. Make sure that power is applied
to the controller and the ON/OFF switch is turned on, with
the Green "Battery Power" indicator turned ON. Set the
"Axle Count" setting to 1, and the "Pump ON Time setting
to 2 seconds on the controller inside the reservoir/controller
cabinet.
17. Pass a large piece of steel or iron, (such as a large wrench
or hammer head) over the top of the sensor. The pump
should turn ON and run for 2 seconds, then turn OFF.
18. If the pump does not turn ON as directed above, check the
Yellow led "Sensor" light on the face of the controller. This
light will turn ON when something is in sensing range of
the sensor. If it remains ON with nothing near the sensor,
the sensor adjustment is not properly set and needs to be
re-adjusted. Repeat steps 12 thru 17 above.
