Using the coffee machine

cAUTION!
❐ Danger of scalding! Beware of steam escaping! Do not open the filter compartment and
water reservoir lid when the coffee machine is in operation.
❐ The coffee is very hot when it has just brewed. Be careful when pouring. You could scald
yourself or others.
❐ The hotplate gets very hot. Do not touch this when the device is turned on or shortly after
it has been switched off.
❐ Never place the coffee machine on a hot stove top or other hot surfaces.
❐ Never leave the empty coffee jug on the hotplate as it might crack. Never use the device if
the coffee jug shows signs of cracking. Only use the coffee jug with this device. Use it very
carefully; it is fragile.
❐ Do not operate the device without water or less water than up to the lowest mark.
❐ When the coffee is being brewed, the lid of the coffee jug must be closed so that the coffee
can run into the jug .
Please note: Whenever the plug is removed from the socket, the clock and timer have
to be reset!

Initial Use

1. Place the coffee machine on a dry, water and heat resistant, flat surface a sufficient distance
away from flammable objects. Please note that the device must not be accessible to children.
2. Insert the mains plug of the device into a properly installed and earthed 220–240 V socket
with earthing contacts. As soon as the device has been connected to a socket, a beep is
heard, the display lights up and "0:00" appears in the display.
3. Adjust the clock: the clock has a 24-hour display. Press the H button to set the hours and
the MIN button to set the minutes. If you keep the H or MIN button pressed down, you
can set the time in fast forward mode.

Making coffee

1. Flip up the filter compartment and water reservoir lid and use the coffee jug to pour water
into the water reservoir. Make sure that the amount of water is between the bottom and
top water level marks in the water reservoir.
2. Place the coffee jug with the lid closed on to the hotplate.
3. Make sure that the permanent filter is in the filter holder and this is properly inserted into
the device. Pour the desired amount of coffee powder into the permanent filter.
4. Then close the filter compartment and water reservoir lid.
5. Press the button to start the brewing process. In order to show you that the brewing
process is starting, the indicator light below the display lights up in red and the word "BREW"
appears in the display.
