Glossary

Become familiar with these terms before operating the unit.
CAVITATION - The shock of thousands of bubbles collapsing inside the pump
quickly, pitting metal surfaces and seals. Cavitation is caused by lack of water at
the inlet of the pump.
CHEMICAL INJECTOR - A chemical injector allows the chemical or soap to be
injected into the water stream, making cleaning faster and easier than water
alone.
DETERGENT INJECTION SYSTEM - Cleaning detergents are drawn into the
water stream making cleaning more effective by allowing detergents to saturate
the soiled surface.
GPM (GALLONS PER MINUTE) - More water per minute can mean faster
cleaning, especially when washing off materials like mud and road tar.
HIGH PRESSURE OUTLET - A connection for high pressure hose.
HP (HORSEPOWER) - A unit of measure for work.
NOZZLE (QUICK CONNECT SPRAY TIPS) - The nozzle is the restriction at the
end of the wand that creates the pressure. Nozzles have different spray patterns
that can affect the width and strength of the spray. The 40-degree (white) nozzle
delivers a fl at spray of about 40-degrees. There's also a 25-degree (green) and the
most popular 15-degree (yellow) nozzles. The 0-degree (red) nozzle should be
used with caution, it can cut into wood and cause damage.
NOTE: The 0-degree (red) tip, the 25-degree (green) tip, and the 40-degree
(white) tip are not supplied with this unit. These tips are available for purchase -
see parts list for part number and ordering information.
PSI (POUNDS PER SQUARE INCH) - A unit of measure for pressure. It
determines how much pressure is directly applied on the surface being cleaned.
The pressure that is delivered by the pressure washer is directly responsible for
breaking the bond between the debris and the surface being cleaned.
THERMAL RELIEF - A technique used to reduce the build-up of high
temperature water within a pressure washer pump caused when the spray gun
trigger is closed. This system prevents internal pump damage by cycling water
through pump when water reaches maximum water temperature. Warm water
will discharge from pump onto ground.
UNLOADER - A device used to relieve the water pressure within the pump
whenever the spray fl ow is blocked. It allows the motor to continue running
when the operator releases the trigger on the spray gun and stops washing. It
diverts the pressure, that would build up without the unloader, by taking the
water from the exit side of the pump and loops it back to the inlet side in a
continuous "bypass" mode. The unloader will return the fl ow of water to the
spray gun when the operator presses the trigger.
