For your safety
This unit has been designed to bind documents by means
of thermo binding folders. Use it for this purpose only and
as described in these operating instructions.
● The unit is for indoor use only. Do not use outdoors.
● Set the unit up on a stable surface (e.g. table) close to a
readily accessible mains socket. Make sure the unit can
be disconnected from mains at all times.
● Protect the mains cord from being strained, pinched or
buckled and place it in a way to prevent people from
tripping over the cord. Particularly ensure that damage
is avoided at the plug and the point where the cord exits
from the unit.
● Do not expose the unit to direct sunlight and do not place
it near heaters or air conditioners or near flammable
substances. Do not place anything on top of the unit.
● Protect the unit from moisture and do not operate it when
mains cord or plug are defective.
● Always grasp the plug, not the cord itself. Never touch
a mains plug with wet hands. Unplug the unit when not
in use.
● The heating plate inside the binding slot becomes very
hot. Do not place any other objects in the binding slot
and keep hands out (Danger of burning!).
● Never leave the unit unattended when switched on. Keep
the unit away from children (risk of injury!).
● Unplug and let the unit cool down before moving,
cleaning or storing it.
● To clean the housing, wipe with a soft cloth and a
general-purpose household cleaner. Do not use cleaning
tissues or chemical substances which might damage the
surface.
● Do not open the housing and do not attempt to repair
the unit yourself. Contact your dealer for any required
repairs. Read guarantee declaration for further
information.
● Ensure good aeration while binding (e. g. open a
window).
● Only use original Leitz accessories.
● Keep this manual with the unit at all times as it is part of
the product.
1.  Preparing the machine
● Connect the mains cable with a mains socket.
● Lift up the binder holder
● Press the mains switch on the rear side.
The POWER ON indicator lights up red.
When the working temperature has been reached, the READY
indicator lights green (after approx. 1 minute).
Caution: Danger of burning!
Never insert your fingers or whole hand in the binding
slot.
2.  Selecting a suitable binding folder
Important: You will achieve optimum binding results only
with the correct spine width. If you use binding folders with
a spine that is too wide or too narrow, individual sheets may
subsequently fall out.
● Hold the document to be bound under the measuring
device.
● Press the measuring device down with your other
hand and read off the necessary spine width.
3.  Aligning the document
● Tap the edge of the document against a flat surface
so that all sheets are level.
4.  Inserting the document in the binding folder
● Insert the document in the binding folder.
Ensure that all the sheets touch the adhesive in the spine of
the binding folder.
5.  Binding
Important: Documents cannot be re-opened after binding.
● Put the binding folder in the binding slot with its spine
pointing downwards so that the clamping device
presses the binding folder together.
You can put one or more binding folders in the slot at the same
time.
The binding process starts automatically. After about 60
seconds you will hear a signal.
● Take out the binding folder.
● Press the folder spine together to ensure that every
sheet is firmly bound (5a).
6.  Allow the binding folder to cool off
● Put the binding folder in the cooling slot for about a
minute.
● Switch the device off if you do not wish to bind any
further documents.
