Mounting in a 19" server rack
You can use the mounting bracket to mount the converter in a standard 19" server rack. To
mount in a server rack, proceed as follows:
• Remove all connected devices and unplug the power adapter from the mains socket
(7 or 8) on the converter.
• Use the screws provided to secure the mounting bracket to the threaded holes (9) on the
housing.
This figure is not a detailed representation of the product. It merely illustrates
installation of the mounting brackets.
• Then, mount the pre-assembled converter in the rack.
Ensure that the mains socket for connecting the power adapter is close to the place
of installation.
Setup
• Connect the USB-B port USB-IN (2) on the converter to the USB output of a computer/server
using the USB cable supplied.
• You can connect up to 2 USB devices to the USB-A outputs USB 1 and USB 2. An additional
USB cable may be required (not included). The maximum available output current per output
is 0.5 A.
• You can directly connect up to 8 devices with corresponding connectors via the connections
(with item no. 1647064).
• Use the RS485 adapter supplied to directly connect cables and
wires for RS422, if necessary. Use an appropriate screwdriver to
screw down the individual wires. Observe the printed descriptions of
the individual connection terminals.
• You can connect up to 8 devices via the RS232 connections (with item no. 1647067).
• Connect the low-voltage plug on the power adapter to the mains socket 5 V/DC (7) to connect
the 5 V/DC supply voltage.

• Alternatively, connect the low-voltage plug on the power adapter to the mains socket
9-36 V/DC (8) to connect the 9-36 V/DC supply voltage.
Never connect both power supplies at the same time. Use only one power
connection.
• Start up the converter.
• Install the necessary drivers for your operating system from the driver CD supplied. Follow
the installation instructions in the "AN_396 FTDI Drivers Installation Guide", which is available

on the CD.
• The converter is now ready for use.
