Safety Instructions
Only trained professional electricians may in-
stall, startup, modify, and retrofit this equip-
ment! Disconnect the device / system from all
power sources prior to starting any work! If
installation or system errors occur, line voltage
may be present at the control circuit in devices
without DC isolation!
Observe all electrical safety regulations issued
by the appropriate technical authorities or the
trade association. The safety function can be
lost if the device is not used for the intended
purpose. Opening the housing or any other
manipulation will void the warranty.
Caution!
If the device has been subjected to improper or
incorrect use it must no longer be used, and the
guarantee loses its validity. Impermissible con-
ditions include:
strong mechanical stress, for example through
a fall, or voltages, currents, temperatures or
humidity outside of the specifications.
Before starting up your machine/plant for the
first time, please be sure to check all the safety
functions according to valid regulations, and
observe the specified test cycles for safety
equipment.
Caution!
Perform the following precautionary steps prior
to installation, assembly, or disassembly:
1. Disconnect supply voltage to the equipment /
system prior to starting any work!
2. Lockout/tag the equipment / system to pre-
vent accidental activation!
3. Confirm that no voltage is present!
4. Ground the phases and short to ground!
5. Protect against adjacent live components
using guards and barriers!
6. The devices must be installed in a cabinet
with a protection class of at least IP 54.
Caution!
Limited contact protection! Protection type ac-
cording to EN 60529.
Housing/terminals: IP 40/ IP 20.
Finger-proof acc. to EN 50274.

Device and Function Description
The device complies with the ISO 13851:2019 Type IIIC requirements. The safety behavior of the
device is designed according to the performance level for safety category 4 (EN ISO 13849-1). The
device is single-fault safe and has self-monitoring. Synchronous activation of both actuators (two-
hand momentary-contact or protective gate switches) is monitored. Each of the two two-hand
momentary-contact switches is connected to the device with a normally open contact and a normally
closed contact. The technical design of the input circuit provides cross and ground-fault monitoring.
The output function is designed to be positively driven with two normally open contacts as enabling
contacts, and with one normally closed contact as control contact.
After the supply voltage is applied to terminals A1/A2 and with closed feedback circuit (terminals
Y1/Y2), the enable current paths are closed by activating simultaneously the actuators (S1 and S2).
Both momentary contact switches must be activated synchronously within 0,5 s for the output
contacts to be enabled. If only one of the two hand switches is released, the device is immediately
de-excited. The enabling current paths open. The relay can be restarted only after both actuator
elements have returned to their initial position (e.g. the two-hand momentary contact switches have
been released) and the feedback circuit is closed again. The feedback circuit should only be opened
again after both actuators are activated. Otherwise the device stays in its off-position. The current
status of the device is indicated by three LEDs: application of the supply voltage with LED SUPPLY,
activation of both actuators with LED K1 and with LED K 2 in addition in case of synchronous
activation.

Proper Use
 Machines whose operation requires repeated motion of the hands into the hazardous zone may
be operated with this relay.
 Only use the machine for its intended purpose. Also particularly note the information in the
Technical Data.
Notes
 The two-hand circuit and the upstream and downstream parts of the controller must comply with
the relevant VDE conditions and the safety regulations ISO 13851:2019, EN 692 and EN 693.
 The Performance Level (PL) and safety category in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 depends
on the external wiring, the application case, the choice of control station and how this is
physically arranged on the machine.
 The user must carry out a risk assessment in accordance with ISO 14121-1.
 The entire system/machine must undergo validation in accordance with the applicable standards
on the basis of this.
 In order for the specified Performance Level (PL) to be achieved an average annual number of
switching cycles must not be exceeded (see EN ISO 13849-1, C.2.4 and Tab. K.1), taking into
account the prevailing device load (see EN ISO 13849-1, Tab. C.1) and the application case.
Assuming that the B10d value is 10,000,000, this results in a maximum cycle number of
10,000,000, / 0.1 x 30 = 3,333,333 switching cycles/year.
 Operating the device not within the specifications may lead to malfunctions or the destruction of
the device.
 To multiply the enabling current paths, the expansion units or external contactive elements with
positively driven contacts can be used.
 External fuse protection for the relay and the contacts should not exceed 6 A type gG.
 External loads have to be equipped with appropriate protective circuits (e.g. RC elements,
varistors, suppressors) to reduce electromagnetic interference and increase the life cycle of the
original circuit elements.
 If magnetic switches with reed contacts or sensors with semiconductor outputs are connected
the switch ON peak current must be noticed (see Technical Data).
 Please consult the installation notes.
Please observe instructions from safety authorities.
