INFORMATION RELEVANT TO BATTERIES AND
RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES
-
Batteries/accumulators have no place in the hands of children.
-
Do not leave the batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around in the open; there
is a risk of them being swallowed by children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doc-
tor immediately.
-
Leaking, or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries, in contact with the skin
can cause acid burns, therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
-
Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown
into a fi re. There is a risk of explosion!
-
Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries, risk of explosion! Only
charge rechargeable batteries that are intended for this purpose, use suitable
battery chargers.
-
Make sure that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable
batteries (pay attention to the negative and positive terminals).
INSERTING / REPLACING THE BATTERY
Open the battery compartment on the housing's underside and insert a battery of
type AA/Mignon observing the correct polarity. The correct polarity is indicated in
the battery compartment.
After inserting the battery, the clock hands move to the reception position (12.00
am, 04.00 am or 08.00 am), and the radio-controlled alarm clock performs a recep-
tion attempt for the DCF signal (see chapter "DCF reception").
Close the battery compartment.
A battery recplacement becomes necessary, if the clock stops.
It is possible to use a rechargeable battery. However, due to the lower op-
erating voltage (rechargeable battery = 1.2 V, battery = 1.5 V) and the lower
output the operating time is reduced.
DCF RECEPTION
Directly after inserting the battery the clock fi rstly attempts to receive the DCF-
signal. The clock hands move into the reception position and automatically adjust to
the current time after a successful DCF-reception.
The recognition and interpretation of the DCF signal can take 2-5 minutes. Do
not move the radio-controlled clock during that time. Do not use any buttons!
A bad reception can also be caused by, e.g. metallized insulated glass, rein-
forced concrete construction design, coated special wallpaper or an installa-
tion in cellars.
If the clock hands do not move to the current time after 10 minutes, change
the position of the radio-controlled alarm clock and press the RESET button
on the rear of the housing by using a sharp object.
This will start a new reception attempt.
The reception attempts for the daily automatic synchronisation with the DCF time
are performed several times per day. A single successful reception attempt per day
is suffi cient to keep the deviation under 1 second.
The DCF signal is transmitted via a DCF transmitter
in Mainfl ingen near Frankfurt. Its range is up to 1500
km and, under ideal reception conditions, even up to
2000 km.
Among other things, the DCF signal includes the pre-
cise time (theoretical deviation of 1 second in a mil-
lion years!) and the date.
This means there is no manual setting of summer
and winter time.
PERFORMING DCF RECEPTION
To perform a manual search for the DCF-signal (e.g. if you have placed the radio-
controlled clock to a different location), press the RESET key on the housing's rear
by using a sharp object.
This will start a new reception attempt. Then wait for approx. 2-5 minutes, as de-
scribed above, until the current time is shown.
ALARM FUNCTION
a) Setting the alarm
-
The alarm time is indicated on the clock face by a small clock hand.
-
Turn the adjustment wheel on the housing's rear in arrow direction until the
required alarm time is shown on the clock face.
Turn the adjustment wheel in arrow direction only, otherwise the alarm time
will not be displayed correctly.
b) Activating / deactivating the alarm function
Move the sliding switch on the side of the housing to the desired position.
ON
Alarm function is activated
OFF
Alarm function is deactivated
c) Stopping the alarm signal & snooze function
At the preset alarm time an alarm signal will be emitted.
This signal can be interrupted for approx. 5 minutes by pressing the big key on the
housing's top side. The signal will be restarted afterwards (snooze function).
To switch the alarm function off, move the sliding switch on the housing's side to
the OFF position.
LIGHTING
Press the big key on the housing's top side to turn on the lighting of the clock face
for a view seconds.
LOCATION FOR INSTALLATION
Select an even, fl at and stable installation location. Protect valuable furniture
surfaces by using an appropriate underlay otherwise scratch marks can occur.
Set up the product in such a manner that it cannot fall over.
To ensure a correct DCF reception, the radio-controlled clock should not be placed
next to electronic devices, cables, metal parts and so on.
