Accessories

A wide range of accessories including saw blades are available from your
GMC dealer. Spares can be ordered through your GMC dealer or www.
toolsparesonline.com.

Maintenance

WARNING: Always disconnect from the power supply before carrying out
any maintenance/cleaning.
General inspection
• Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight. They may vibrate
loose over time
• Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or
wear. Repairs should be carried out by an authorised GMC service
centre. This advice also applies to extension cords used with this tool

Lubrication

• Lubricate all moving parts with a suitable lubricant spray, at regular intervals
Cleaning
WARNING: ALWAYS wear protective equipment including eye protection
and gloves when cleaning this tool.
• Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts
to wear quickly, and shorten the device's service life
• Clean the body of your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth
• Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts. If dry cleaning is not
sufficient, a mild detergent on a damp cloth is recommended
• Water must never come into contact with the tool
• Ensure the tool is thoroughly dry before using it
• If available, use clean, dry, compressed air to blow through the
ventilation holes (where applicable)
Brushes
• Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may become worn
• Excessively worn brushes may cause loss of power, intermittent failure,
or visible sparking
• If you suspect that the brushes may be worn, have them replaced at an
authorised service centre

Storage

• Store this tool carefully in a secure, dry place out of the reach of children
Changing the blade
WARNING: Never try to use a blade larger than the stated capacity of the saw;
it might come into contact with the blade guards. Never use a blade that is too
thick to allow the outer blade washer to engage with the flats on the spindle; it
will prevent the blade screw from properly securing the blade on the spindle.
Do not use the saw to cut metal or masonry. Ensure that any spacers and
spindle rings that may be required suit the spindle and the blade fitted.
WARNING: Never fit and use a blade
that is visibly damaged, deformed or
has dull or missing teeth.
WARNING: Never fit and use a blade
made from high speed steel (HSS).
IMPORTANT: Wear gloves when
handling blades
1. Make sure that the electrical plug is
removed from the power point
2. Push down on the Operating
Handle (7) and pull the Release
Knob (6) to disengage the Saw
Arm (5). The Release Knob (6)
can be turned so that the saw arm
is held in the retracted position

3. Raise the Saw Arm (5) to its
highest position
4. Using a Phillips head screwdriver,
loosen and remove the screw that
secures the Guard Retraction Arm
(13) to the rotating blade guard
(Fig n)

5. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, loosen (Fig. o) and remove the
screw that secures the Blade Bolt
Cover (14)
6. Pull the Rotating Blade Guard (12)
down, then swing it up together with
the blade bolt cover (14). When the
rotating blade guard is positioned
over the Upper Fixed Blade Guard
(9) it is possible to access the blade
bolt (Fig. p)
7. Hold the Rotating Blade Guard
(12) up and press the Spindle Lock
Button (26) (Fig. q). Rotate the
blade until the spindle locks
