Obey 40 D-Fi 2.4 User Manual Rev. 4
The Obey 40 D-Fi 2.4 has an auto-ranging external power supply, that works with an input voltage
range of 100 to 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz. It runs on 9 VDC, 500 mA.
Before turning on the power, make sure the line voltage is within the range of accepted voltages as
listed on the label affixed to the product or as described in
The listed rating indicates average current draw under normal conditions.
To eliminate wear and improve its lifespan, during periods of non-use completely disconnect
from power via breaker or by unplugging it.
• Always connect the board to a grounded circuit.
• Never connect the board to a rheostat or dimmer circuit.
The Obey 40 D-Fi 2.4 may be mounted in any position; make sure adequate ventilation is provided
around the product.
In order to use the Obey 40 D-Fi 2.4 it must be configured for wireless D-Fi use, or connected to the
products with DMX cables. The products must also be configured for wireless D-Fi use, or
connected with DMX cables. The products must also be set to the correct DMX addresses.

The D-Fi is configured with the DIP switches on the front panel above the sound sensitivity knob.
The D-Fi channel can be selected manually or automatically. The Obey 40 D-Fi 2.4 can transmit D-
Fi or receive D-Fi.
• Almost every use of the Obey 40 D-Fi 2.4 requires it to transmit D-Fi.
• The only time the Obey 40 D-Fi 2.4 should be configured to receive D-Fi is when another
system is controlling it.
• When the Obey 40 D-Fi 2.4 is configured to receive D-Fi it cannot transmit D-Fi and it must
be connected to the lights with DMX cables.
Transmitting D-Fi requires the following:
• The Obey 40 D-Fi 2.4 is configured to transmit.
• The products are D-Fi compatible and configured to receive.
• The Obey 40 D-Fi 2.4 and the products are all configured either to Auto-Sync, or set to the same
channel with Manual Channel Selection.
• The Obey 40 D-Fi 2.4 is within 300 ft of the D-Fi lights.
• There are no large solid objects, such as walls, large pieces of concrete, or solid metal structures
between the Obey 40 D-Fi 2.4 and the lights receiving D-Fi.
Manual Channel Selection mode is recommended, but either mode works.
