OPERATION MODE SELECTION
▪ Drilling in metal, wood, etc. The switch 5 is in its ex-
treme right position the symbol "drill bit" being ex-
posed (Fig. 9a).
▪ Drilling in concrete, stone, etc. The ON/OFF switch 5
is in its extreme left position and the symbol "hammer"
is exposed (Fig. 9b).
SCREWING/UNSCREWING BOLTS, SCREWS
AND NUTS
Following the above-described procedure, tighten the
corresponding accessory in chuck 2. Set the operation
mode selector switch 5 in the rightmost position until the
"drill bit" symbol could be entirely exposed. Select the
rotation direction necessary by lever 9. These operations
must be performed only at low rpm. Place the bit onto the
screw or the bolt only when the spindle is not rotating.
The rotating bit can slip.
WARNING: In case of screwing/unscrewing
long bolts and screws there is a danger of slipping the
drill.
RECOMMENDATION FOR SCREWING
▪ Use the proper bits for screwing, with appropriate
shape and size.
▪ In soft wood the suitable screws can be screwed in
without preliminary drilling a small pilot hole;
▪ For hard wood preliminary drilling a small pilot hole
is necessary;
▪ For sunk-head screws the hole must be preliminary
spot-faced.
▪ For pivot screws, drill preliminary the seat for the
screw for approximately half its length.
AUXILIARY HANDLE
Tighten the auxiliary handle 8 on the drill journal 4
(Fig. 10). In the interests of safety, the auxiliary handle 8
should always be used. The depth gauge 7 can be used
for fixing the depth of the drilled bores.
The auxiliary handle for these models is connected to
the body of the machine through vibration dampers, pro-
tecting the operator and reducing fatigue.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR OPERATION
Apply moderate pressure during drilling in concrete (ap-
proximately 100-120 N for drill bits up to Ø16 mm). Higher
pressure will not increase drilling efficiency, but it will
lead to decreasing the operation life of the machine. For
machines with electronic speed control, drill with speed
lower than the maximum, suited to the material.
Use carbide tipped straight shank drill bits.
Take the drill out of the opening from time to time to re-
move dust.
Watch out the stage of blunting of the bit and change it if
considerable decrease of efficiency is observed.
Before drilling large diameter holes, drill a small pilot
hole.

WARNING: These accessories or at-
tachments are recommended for use with your
NORMFEST tool specified in this manual. The use of

Maintenance

WARNING: Always ensure that the tool is
switched off and unplugged before attempting to per-
form inspection or maintenance.
BRUSH REPLACEMENT
This power tool is equipped with auto-stop brushes.
When the carbon brushes are worn out, the machine
switches itself off. In this case both brushes must be
replaced simultaneously with genuine brushes at
NORMFEST service centre for warranty and post-war-
ranty service.
GENERAL INSPECTION
Regularly inspect all fasteners and ensure they are
properly tightened. Should any of the screws be loose,
retighten it immediately to avoid hazards.
If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this
has to be done by the manufacturer or his agent in order
to avoid a safety hazard.
CLEANING
For safe operation always keep the machine and its ven-
tilation slots clean.
Regularly check to see if any dust or foreign matter
has entered the ventilation slots and the grills around
the switches. Use a soft brush and/or air jet to remove
any accumulated dust. Wear safety glasses to protect
your eyes whilst cleaning.
Exterior plastic parts may be cleaned with a damp cloth
and mild detergent if necessary.
WARNING: Never use alcohol, petrol or other
cleaning agent. Never use caustic agents to clean
plastic parts.
