6. FIRST START AND INTERNET CONNECTION

Below we describe how to connect ChaffoLink to the Internet, using two different
procedures, depending on whether it is used with a LAN or GPRS.
6.1 Configuring the Gateway through the LAN
To use ChaffoLink through the LAN:
1. With ChaffoLink off and not connect-
ed to the mains power, open the front
panel by unscrewing the two screws
and connect the LAN cable to its con-
nector (A). Connect the other end of
the cable to the ADSL router and re-
close the front panel.
2. Provide mains power to the gateway
and press the ON/OFF button.
For several minutes the gateway per-
forms its startup procedure, during
which all the LEDs flash in sequence
in blue. On completion, the WEB LED
remains stable on yellow while the
BUS LED remains green and the Ex-
pert Control display shows the "
3. Press and hold the initial configuration button (for at least 5 seconds) until the WEB
LED flashes green.
4. If after 30 seconds the WEB LED turns steady green, the procedure was successful.
The product is connected to the Internet and it is not necessary to proceed with the
following steps.
5. If after 30 seconds the WEB LED flashes purple, the product must be configured
manually (IP not received).
6. Detach the LAN cable from the router and use it to connect the Gateway to a PC
already configured with a static IP of the 192.168.1.X category.
7. Go to page 192.168.1.1 with the browser.
