Electrical connection
• The upper section of the machine contains live components. Con-
tact with live components leads to serious or even fatal injuries.
Never spray water on to the upper section of the machine.
• Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands.
• The vacuum cleaner must not be used if the electrical cable or plug
show any sign of damage. Regularly inspect the cable and the plug
for damage. If this becomes damaged, it should be repaired only by
Makita or an authorised Makita Service Dealer, in order to avoid a
hazard.
• If grounded products should malfunction or breakdown, grounding
provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the
risk of electric shock. If the appliance is equipped with a cord hav-
ing an equipment-grounding conductor and grounding plug. The
plug must be inserted into an appropriate outlet that is properly
installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordi-
nances. Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conduc-
tor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified elec-

is properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the ap-

qualified electrician. For a grounded, cord-connected appliance

ply circuit. This appliance is for use on a nominal 120-V circuit and
has a grounding attachment plug that looks like the plug illustrated
in sketch A in Figure 20. Make sure that the appliance is connected
to an outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No adaptor
should be used with this appliance.
• A double-insulated appliance is marked with one or more of the
following: The words "DOUBLE INSULATION" or "DOUBLE INSU-
LATED" or the double insulation symbol (square within a square). In
a double-insulated appliance, two systems of insulation are pro-
vided instead of grounding. No grounding means is provided on a
double-insulated appliance, nor should a means for grounding be
added to the appliance. Servicing a double-insulated appliance re-
