Pre-­‐Operating   I nstructions:   G enerator   S etup

Fuel   a nd   i ts   v apors   a re   e xtremely   f lammable   a nd   e xplosive.

WHEN   A DDING   F UEL  
Turn   g enerator   o ff   a nd   l et   i t   c ool   f or   a   m inimum   o f   t hree   m inutes   b efore   r emoving   f uel   c ap.   T urn   a nd   r emove   c ap   s lowly  
in   o rder   t o   r elieve   r esidual   t ank   p ressure.  
Always   f ill   t he   f uel   t ank   w ith   t he   u nit   o utdoors.  
DO   N OT   o verfill   t ank.   A llow   r oom   f or   f uel   e xpansion.  
Keep   f uel   a way   f rom   s parks,   o pen   f lames,   h eat,   p ilot   l ights,   a nd   o ther   i gnition   s ources.  
 
ADD   F UEL:  
R efer   t o   C ontrols   a nd   F eatures   s ection   f or   d iagrams.  
1. Clean   a rea   a round   f uel   c ap,   t hen   r emove   f uel   c ap.  
2. Pour   f resh,   c lean   r egular   a utomotive   g rade   u nleaded   f uel   w ith   a   m inimum  
octane   r ating   o f   8 7   i nto   f uel   t ank.     D o   N OT   m ix   f uel   w ith   o il.     F uel   m ust   h ave  
ethanol   b lend   o f   1 5%   o r   l ess.     P ay   c lose   a ttention   t o   t he   s torage   r equirements   o f  
these   f uels.     D o   N OT   o verfill   f uel   t ank.      
3. Install   t he   f uel   c ap.     R otate   t he   f uel   c ap   c lockwise   u ntil   i t   i s   i n   i ts   l ocked   p osition.    
Wipe   a way   a ny   s pilled   f uel.  
 
CAUTION:     A lcohol-­‐blended   f uels   ( gasohol,   e thanol,   o r   m ethanol)   w ill   a ttract   m oisture,  
which   l eads   t o   s eparation   a nd   f ormation   o f   a cids   d uring   s torage.     A cidic   g as   c an   d amage  
the   f uel   s ystem   o f   a n   e ngine   w hile   i n   s torage.     T o   a void   e ngine   p roblems,   t he   f uel  
system   s hould   b e   t reated   w ith   a   f uel   s tabilizer   o r   d rained   i f   t he   g enerator   w ill   n ot   b e  
started   f or   t hirty   ( 30)   d ays.     I f   u sing   a   f uel   s tabilizer,   f ollow   t he   m anufacture's  
recommended   i nstructions   f or   u se.     A lways   u se   s tabilizer   w ith   a   f ull   t ank   o f   g asoline.    
Always   d rain   o ld   f uel   a nd   u se   f resh   f uel   b efore   n ext   u se.     I f   y ou   d o   n ot   u se   a   f uel  
stabilizer,   t he   f uel   s ystem   m ust   b e   d rained   a nd   c leaned.     D rain   t he   f uel   t ank   a nd   s tart  
the   e ngine,   a llowing   i t   t o   r un   u ntil   a ll   f uel   l ines   a nd   c arburetor   a re   d rained   o f   f uel.    
Before   r estarting   t he   c arburetor.   F loat   b owl   m ust   b e   r emoved   a nd   c leaned   o f   a ny  
debris.    
 
NEVER   u se   c hemical   s olvents   o r   c leaners   i n   t he   f uel   t ank   f or   d amage   m ay   o ccur.
