In general, when put out of service, the ballast must be stored in a dry, warm place to prevent
condensation/moisture getting into the electronics which could cause damage when used again.
Never open the case of the device or of the appending parts if this is not explicitly suggested in the
user manual. Never apply technical modifications of the device.
1.4

APPLICATION/INSTALLATION

The ballast is only to be used for T5 lamps in the range of 40 to 105 Watt.
Environment temperature: 15 °C to +30 °C
Protection class: IP20
CAUTION!
Before you install the ballast, read the manual carefully. Damage caused because the manual was not
read thoroughly does not fall under warranty.
When unpacking the ballast, check whether all parts have been delivered undamaged. Any damage
detected must be reported to your retailer within 24 hours of purchasing the device. Please check the
ballast for damage before you operate it. Do not use the ballast if it is damaged. Please inform your
retailer immediately. If the ballast is used despite being damaged, any warranty and liability will then
be invalid.
The ballast may not be used outdoors. It is only approved for indoor usage. Furthermore the ballast
may not be opposed to direct sunlight or direct heat sources (powerful lamps, central heating etc.).
The balast produces heat itself. Adequate air ventilation has to be assured. Therefore a minimal
distance of 10cm to each side from the next cabinet/shelve has to be assured. An adequate air
ventilation of the room has to be assured. Remember a (garden) shed might get very warm during
sunny days (above 40°C). The ballast has a protection class IP20. Remember that electronics and
water are enemies. Provide good protection from moisture and a humid environment.

FUNCTION OF LEDS AND DISPLAY

The ballast displays the remaining lamp life in hours. Standard it's set on 13000 hours and the ballast
will count down to zero. The display shows ‚30.00', where the dot means 10.000 hours extra. After
counting down to zero, the counter shows 9999 (now without a dot).
If the reset button is shortly pressed (1-2 seconds) the display shows the ballast operation time in
hours; this value can't be resetted.
After 10 seconds the view of the display returns in the remaining life time of the connected lamp.
When there is no lamp connected or the lamp is broken/fails, the red LED (error) starts blinking and
the buzzer is activated. This indicates an error of the lamp, not of the ballast.
At normal operating with lamp properly connected, green LED (OK) lights.
1.5.1

END OF LAMP LIFE - A3

If the display shows „A3", this means end of life of the lamp. „A3" is also shown when the lamp is
not properly connected to the ballast. The red LED will light discontinously and the buzzer will sound,
indicating lamp has to be replaced.
The „A3" display can be eliminated up to four times. Press the reset-button for 5 seconds. The buzzer
stops and the inernal lamp life will be set to 7 days. Display still shows „A3" and red LED still blinks.
After 7 days, the buzzer will sound again. After given a reset 4 times buzzer will not be eliminated
unless lamp has been changed.
1.5.2

REPLACING A LAMP/RESETTING HOURS

When a lamp has been replaced you need to press the reset button for more than 10 seconds. The
display shows „rSEt". Hold for another 1-2 seconds and the display shows ‚30.00'. Now release the
button, lamp life has been resetted.
